Why did I buy a sharpening machine for chainsaws, if its cost can be sharpened in workshops 30
Buying a sharpening machine for your home for $ 30-40 (the cheapest models) may seem like a waste when you consider that it costs less than $ 1 to sharpen a chain in workshops.
But this is only in theory. In practice, it will pay off much faster. Why?
How the sharpening machine pays off quickly
After my first chain became dull, I gave it to the workshop. The result of the “master's” work simply shocked me. The teeth have been sharpened by 50 - 60%. That is, half the length of the tooth remains. One friend told me that they just changed the chain for me. But I doubt it (she was a little special). But with the idea of another, I agreed. The sharpener in the workshop is set to certain parameters and the "master" does not make adjustments for each chain.
As a result, this chain did not last long. She survived 2 more "cosmetic" sharpenings, and then 5 teeth were torn off on an oak block, 4 of which were right. I had to buy a new one.
That is, the payback of the sharpening machine occurs in two directions:
1. Maintenance of the chain in the workshop.
2. Prolongation of chain service due to hand-made careful sharpening.
And the more expensive chains you use, the faster the sharpening machine will pay off.
My impressions of the sharpening machine
I bought a PRO-CRAFT SK950 sharpening machine.
From the very first inspection, I realized that this car is for amateurs:
1. The machine bed and fixing table are made of plastic.
2. The fastening of the chain in the machine is somehow primitive.
3. The sharpening angles are adjusted only in one plane.
When I started to sharpen the chain, I saw the inconvenience of working with the machine:
1. The teeth are clamped poorly and play.
2. The chain does not move perfectly on the lashing table.
The only nice thing is the quiet operation of the electric motor.
Convenience and safety should include the power button of the machine, which is located on the handle. Disconnection is performed by releasing the button. That is, the machine works - as long as you hold the button.
Output
Despite the primitiveness of the PRO-CRAFT SK950, I am not too disappointed. Already made several sharpenings, and was satisfied with his work. Moreover, I did not save money, but the teeth of the chains.
This machine is only for laymen and amateurs, like me, and is not at all suitable for professional "lumberjacks" or for installation in workshops.
