How to make an apple tree give a Big Harvest. Forgotten by many, time-tested, effective and reliable method
I, like many gardeners, are well aware of the problem of poor fruiting of fruit trees. The hardest part was with the apple trees. They did not bloom for a long time, or shed their fruits.
I don’t know how much I would have to suffer if I hadn’t learned one effective way. I will note right away that no methods can help if the trees are not planted correctly.
The easiest and most effective way to increase the yield of apple trees is to water them properly. Frequent, but not plentiful watering has a bad effect on fruiting. Because in this case, the roots of the trees do not receive enough moisture.
During one season, the tree should receive good watering four times:
· During budding.
· 2 weeks after flowering.
· Three weeks before harvesting.
· After the foliage has fallen (around October).
In most cases, it is enough to establish watering and the yield will increase by 40%. For young trees, one watering requires at least 30 liters of water, and for adult plants, about 150 liters. In order for moisture to better penetrate to the roots, I make depressions (60 cm) around the circumference of the crown.
Another important point. In the apple tree, fruits grow better on horizontal branches. Therefore, when thinning the crown, I try to remove the vertical branches as much as possible.
If the branches have already grown incorrectly, then the situation can be corrected by hanging a load on them. Thanks to this little trick, the branches will be forced to change the direction of growth.
In cases where the care is correct, but the harvest is not very good, you can stress the tree. This is the method that helped me. It is called ringing and is carried out in the spring.
With a sharp knife, which is preliminarily wiped with alcohol and ignited over a fire, an annular cut in the bark on the trunk (about 2 cm) is made at the base to the wood parallel to the ground. The resulting ring is removed, turned inside out and applied with the opposite side to the cut site.
With the help of a film, the ring is fixed to the tree. Be sure to follow all precautions, because you can bring mushrooms. This method can only be used on trees older than 3 years.
There is a second, more gentle ringing method. In this case, instead of making an incision, the tree trunk is pulled over with wire so that it literally cuts into the bark. Before winter preparation of the tree, the wire is removed from the trunk.
The effectiveness of both of these methods is due to the fact that the manipulations carried out lead to a decrease in the outflow of nutrients. In addition, the tree is stressed, which in turn provokes the need for reproduction and abundant budding.
