Garlic dressing recipe shared by my Grandma. Collecting large heads for 3 years in a row

Garlic is a storehouse of vitamins and an excellent flavoring additive for the preparation of aromatic dishes. For many years now, competent care and timely feeding have helped me to harvest a rich harvest of large, selected garlic. I share my secret: my grandmother's recipe for feeding garlic and my personal secret of fertilizing.

When growing garlic, I use two types of feeding:

• for the correct growth of shoots;
• for the quality development of fruits.

The active growth of the leaf-stem part of the plant provides nitrogen fertilization. It must be introduced before the tips of the shoots turn yellow, otherwise top dressing will not bring benefits.

I use ammonium nitrate as my nitrogen fertilizer. Many will argue - but what about the traditional introduction of urea?

I explain. Urea works only at high ambient temperatures, so its use is advisable only in summer. In early spring, only ammonium nitrate can provide successful plant growth. Well-developed, powerful shoots will be the key to the development of large heads of garlic.

Fertilizer for head growth should be used when the plant has reached the desired top development. The starting signal will be the appearance of the tenth leaf.

From this moment, the process of fetal development begins, which will last for the next two months. For active growth of the head, I use phosphorus-potassium fertilizer.

Please note that the application of nitrogen fertilization is completely stopped from this moment! An excess of nitrogen will lead to a decrease in the shelf life of the crop.

I use wood ash as a phosphorus-potassium fertilizer. For many summer residents, the usual way of introducing ash is to scatter plentiful material around the plants, followed by watering.

My secret is using the root fertilization method. Create small grooves 5-6 cm deep along the bed, dilute the solution (a glass of ash for 10 liters of water), pour the prepared grooves with the resulting mixture, carefully level the ground. This method will prevent alkalization of the soil, as well as provide the roots with the necessary feeding.

Important! Keep in mind that the use of wood ash alkalizes the soil, so if the Ph in your area is higher than 7, then it is better not to feed wood ash.

When the level of alkali is exceeded, the assimilation of micro and macroelements, including iron, deteriorates, which will negatively affect the development of the plant.

In this case, I recommend using complex fertilizers with a high phosphorus-potassium content.
