Pots in diapers and petunias
In the last hot season, we did not cope with watering the pots. Petunias dried out very quickly, water evaporated and flowed out through the walls when watering. As a result, the plants began to seed in the middle of summer (they lost their decorative effect).
Yes, I came to the conclusion that it was the lack of water that turned out to be critical, and not specific hybrids were to blame. Because she saw her petunia Ninya Burgundy F1 in the subscriber's photo in the comments. Blooming like spring!
What to do?
There were two options:
- Add hydrogel to soil
- Or put a diaper on the bottom of the planter (advice from your comments)
The second method seemed to me more environmentally friendly. We just have pampers, the simplest ones, without modern additives. And then throw it out is not a problem. And the hydrogel will decompose ...
Pampers are better. And it's clearer what's going on. Water does not flow out of the planter when watering. Whether the hydrogel will have time to hold back when watering dry soil is a question.
What they were doing
- These pots are in our fifth year, so they disinfected them with Agroyoda solution.
- Put the diaper to the bottom
- Prepared the soil:
- Planted petunias
- Poured warm water
These beauties are now growing in relative freedom:
Who does not know, Osmokot is a "candy" type fertilizer that slowly melts during the specified period. There are also 2-3 months and 5-6 months. Glutton petunias, it is convenient to charge with such fertilizer.
Did you plant petunias like that?
I would be grateful for your subscription and communication :)
