Grandfather's ways against ticks, mosquitoes, midges
Yesterday I saw a huge variety of chemicals in the store. protection against ticks and other insects. They can be used to treat clothing or apply (spray) to the skin.
Many praise a product that contains one effective substance: alphacypermethrin.
It also helps a lot clove oil. Works and protects 12 hours! Apply in a thin layer to clothing. This remedy is sold in a regular pharmacy. Pests do not tolerate such a smell. He scares them away. Can be diluted with water and sprayed onto clothing. To strengthen the product, add cypermethrin to the solution. There are ready-made products with this substance.
I am not a supporter of all these chemicals. I remember how I went with my grandfather to the forest and even spent the night in a tent or near a fire. We weren't afraid of ticks, and that's why.
Previously, there were no special protective equipment. Therefore, everyone used folk methods.
My grandfather taught me to avoid tall grass in the forest. Clothes need to be checked from time to time.
There is such a folk remedy: rub the skin with the ashes from the fire.
Perfectly repels mosquitoes and ticks. But not everyone wants to smear themselves from head to toe with ash and then walk dirty in the forest. This is a last resort.
If you have to spend the night in the forest, then choose a place near the anthill. This place is the safest. But not near the anthill itself, but 5-10 meters from it. Ticks are afraid of formic acid.
He also taught me to do this: put my hands to the anthill and hold it for a while.
The ants will spray acid on your palms and you can then wipe the exposed skin. But the remedy works until the first sweat (not for long).
You can do this. Put a handkerchief or hat on the anthill for a while, moistened with a little water or even your saliva in some places. The ants will "process" your headgear. All that remains is to shake off the ants and put them on your head. This will save not only from ticks, but also from annoying mosquitoes and other insects.
From mosquitoes, especially midges and horseflies, there is such an effective remedy. Take a packet of vanillin (no sugar). Dilute in water, bottle and spray on skin and clothing. No midges will stick!
