Why you need to feed a peony in early May. If you can do nothing and fry kebabs
It is the beginning of May that we must not miss. Judge for yourself, citizens. Remember what magnificent greenery the "King of the Garden" builds up. And to maintain all this splendor, the plant spends a lot, a lot of nitrogen.
When there is not enough macronutrient, the bush becomes frail, faded and worse than that of its neighbors. And right now is the time to add nitrogen in large quantities. Because by the beginning of summer, the gardener needs to think about adding phosphorus, which makes the peony set buds.
Top dressing number 1: A successful composition and an equally successful method of application
The most obvious option is to apply urea or similar fertilizer in granules. But certainly with a high nitrogen content. Bear in mind, comrade: there is very little time, so, alas, it will not work just to scatter the top dressing around the bush and go to bed with a clear conscience. We will apply a fertilizer solution, because this way the peony will assimilate nitrogen faster.
- Dissolve 1 matchbox of urea in a little warm water. You will get tired in the cold!
- Pour in 10 liters of water. Also not icy, so that the peony does not stress.
- Spill the peony's trunk circle. Don't just pour into the center! Describe a circle with a stream at a distance of 15-30 cm from the stems.
It is a big mistake, dear comrade, to be naive in the middle. The peony has a somewhat wide root system. If you pour it into the center, you deprive most of the suction roots of fertilizer, and the effect will make the cat cry.
Top dressing number 2: "Folk option"
In a similar way, you can use liquid organic fertilizer - manure infusion. But you need to use it carefully, not pouring more than 4 liters under an adult plant. Let the "small" peonies be limited to an even smaller amount: 2 liters.
The recipe is outrageously simple: 1 kg per 10 liters of water, we insist for a week. We apply only on wet soil, that is, after rain or watering. And the leftovers can be thrown to the roses. They also love such a fragrant top dressing!
