When you need to make an accurate cut at 90 °, we take a protractor, a square or some kind of board with a perfectly even angle. We use these devices as a lacquer. There is nothing complicated here - I attached, drew, cut off.
Making an accurate 45 degree cut is more difficult: you need to take measurements. When there is no protractor at hand, you have to resort to some folk life hacks. For example, fold A4 sheet diagonally and measure against it.
But it turns out that almost any modern hacksaw already has a goniometer with a ruler, which will accurately measure 90 and 45 degrees. The whole secret is in the handle of the tool, or rather, in its edges.
How to get 90 and 45 ° angles
A hacksaw consists of a metal blade and a handle. There are two faces at the point where the handle is attached to the canvas. One of the edges is located strictly perpendicular to the upper part of the canvas, and if you attach it, for example, to the edge of the board and draw a line with a marker, then the angle will be exactly 90 °.
To measure the 45 ° angle, use the bottom edge of the handle. If you attach it to the edge of a board or timber, then the direction of the upper part of the canvas will be exactly 45 °. This hacksaw feature allows you to quickly measure and mark the above angles.
Where can you use a hacksaw as a protractor
A hacksaw for measuring exact angles of 45 and 90 ° is convenient to use when cutting plywood, OSB, chipboard, drywall, edged board, timber. For convenience, it is best to have a marker or pencil.
If the length of the hacksaw blade is not enough to mark large sheets, the line can be extended using any even strip. When working with a hacksaw as a protractor, observe safety precautions!
