Why is concrete a bad fence solution? The main reasons that many ignore.
Any building material has its own place for application. But many need to "reinvent their own bicycle." Especially self-builders like me ...
Friends, I am glad to welcome you to my channel. Since I embarked on the path of building a house with my own hands, I am in a constant learning process.
In this regard, your experience gives much more benefit, but you already look at others differently.
Previously, walking through the streets, I did not pay attention to what was happening around. And now, you go and evaluate what kind of foundation someone has, and how it behaves, what kind of roofing and finishing...
But the fences are always the first to catch the eye.
And usually by the fence, you can already judge what is behind it and how people live.
- Simple summer residents often put a mesh-netting.
- But if they live in the house on a permanent basis, then the fence wants to be more solid.
✅ And a powerful fence on a concrete belt is for many an ideal of reliability and durability.
For me, the question arises here: why now many people put houses on screw piles, and everyone wants fences on a concrete base?
Although many times I have seen a similar picture.
Of course, many people think that these are hand-made builders, or the concrete is bad, and that this will definitely not happen with their fence. It will happen if you start only from the design of the fence itself.
It all starts from the foundation.
1. For some reason, speaking about the foundation of the house, everyone is repeating that it needs to be poured below the freezing depth?
But I am sure that there will be a few fences made according to this principle. The pillars can be concreted deeper, but otherwise, it is usually a slightly recessed tape.
Although in the case of a house, such a shallow tape is much more likely to remain intact, precisely because of the mass of the structure.
2. Soil water saturation also plays a role. If the site has a high level of groundwater, then even good preparation of the base, and pouring below the freezing depth may not help.
Again, the forces of frost heaving have a much stronger effect on the lightweight structure of the fence. And even if you bury yourself below the freezing depth, the lateral pressure of the soil will not disappear anywhere.
And in this case, as with the foundation of houses, only a drainage system will help.
3. And all this is superimposed on the atmospheric effect.
And again, everyone is trying to protect the foundations under the houses, even from capillary suction of water. and concrete fences are left in a completely open space.
Here, only a good brand of concrete will help the fence to stand longer. Well, this is if the supplier comes across a normal one (in the case of the plant), or the workers will mix everything up in good faith (if the self-esteem).
As a result, putting a normal fence is like building a house?
Exactly so, although many are not morally ready for this.
Well, after all, this is just a fence, you need a cheaper one, although you want it beautifully ...
And then all this beauty is on the slope.
During my self-construction, I have already made sure that there are no trifles in any construction process. Of course, there were some mistakes, but it's better to learn from strangers.
