"Burn in hell with your prices!" - this is exactly what the customer wished to our interlocutor Ilya. The conflict arose after the client heard the price of installing an expensive chandelier. What caused the quarrel: the customer's greed or the builder's irrepressible appetite - let's try to understand.

Briefly about ordering and dialogue with a client

Once my partner called me and said that there was an order for the installation of a ceiling chandelier. The client came to us on the recommendations of previous customers and wanted to entrust this work to us. The installation of the lamp itself is of little interest to me, but here there was a special case: the chandelier cost 250 thousand rubles, and such an order, as practice shows, is a good quick money.

“I need to hang it neatly and with high quality! The chandelier is expensive, I paid 250 thousand for it! " - the customer said at the meeting. I replied: "We will do everything in the best possible way - the installation costs 25 thousand." "What ?!" The customer cried out with bulging eyes. “Installation of equipment, including lighting, which costs more than 50 thousand rubles, is estimated at 10% of its cost,” I explained.

And then it began! “Yes, you are insolent! You want to rip off 25 thousand for a chandelier from me? Burn in hell with your prices! For that kind of money, I'll hang it myself ”- the client clearly lost his temper. I did not give in to this op and tried to build a constructive dialogue. "How much do you want to pay for this work?" I asked. “Well, three or four thousand,” the customer muttered a little calmed down. "Hang yourself for this money!" - I already began to get nervous. In general, we quarreled and I left the facility.

Well, am I really wrong? The chandelier is expensive, and you need to hang it under the second light at a height of five meters. This colossus weighs 60 kilograms - solid brass, copper and crystal. Size: a meter wide and one and a half high. What if I drop it or break it? The responsibility is all on me!

Well, that's not all. This chandelier has 36 lamps. It consumes two and a half kilowatts! And this is additional fuss with wiring and switches. In general, the work is responsible and I think it's worth it.

But the customer thinks that it is enough to screw in the ceiling hook and connect the "wires". That’s in the bag and three thousand in your pocket. But I will not do according to his naive plan. And if it falls on your head or, in general, closes and burns the whole house? Power is like an electric kettle!

From rags to riches - the type of client who does not value other people's work

This is not the first time I have come across expensive orders. He also installed a jacuzzi for 900 thousand rubles and mirrors for 300 thousand, and even a chandelier for one and a half million. True, for its installation, part of the roof had to be dismantled, and the work there was assessed a little differently. But that's not the point.

The bottom line is that among clients from the so-called expensive segment, about a third of those for whom money was given hard and a rich life for them is a burden. The cross that they carry is incomprehensible for what. Their life consists of being on a level, although they do not pull this level. And, perhaps, they do not deserve ...

They have money to buy a Mercedes, but not enough to service it. The pseudo-rich tries to take care of the car, repair it on their own, and if you have to contact a car service, then this category of people often have heart attacks from the announced prices.

The same happened with the chandelier. This, of course, is not my business, but why does he need such a gorgeous lamp? Was your wife, or what, ordered to hang to celebrate the anniversary and draw in front of relatives and friends? And I do not see any other motivation among people who call someone else's skilled labor robbery and also curse for it.

My advice: do not contact customers in this category. "If you hear the question: what is this kind of money for ?!" - turn around and leave. They simply do not understand that this is, first of all, responsibility. Even if they agree to the announced price, when accepting the work, they will endure the brain in such a way that it will not seem a little. Trust my fifteen years of experience with clients of all levels.
