Russia can maintain its status as an energy superpower through the development of hydrogen transportation
In the future, the Russian Federation is quite capable of retaining its status as an energy superpower through the export of hydrogen. It was with this statement that he made at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) taking place these days. Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for Relations with International Organizations to Achieve Sustainable Development BUT. Chubais.
What was said
So, according to A. Chubais, the Russian Federation is quite capable of retaining its status as an energy superpower in the process of replacing hydrocarbon exports with hydrogen exports.
According to the most conservative estimates of specialists in this field, the currently implemented transportation infrastructure gas can use about 10% of its throughput capacity for hydrogen transmission without any major upgrades.
It was also emphasized that the Russian Federation has a "fantastic advantage" that many countries cannot even to think, and therefore it is extremely important not to lose this groundwork and direct all possible resources to development precisely in this direction.
Well, it's hard not to agree that in the modern world, hydrocarbons will gradually be replaced by more ecological energy sources, and hydrogen in this regard is one of the options for the development of green energy. Therefore, it is quite logical that it is in Russia (whose economy is quite dependent on the export of hydrocarbons) that they are concerned about this issue.
By the way, I would like to remind you that back in April, Deputy Minister of Energy P. Sorokin made a statement that by 2030 the Russian Federation intends to occupy about 25-30% of the entire world market for the purchase and sale of hydrogen.
And what does Russia have now?
On the territory of Russia there is already the first pilot project of the corporation "Rusnano" for the production of "green hydrogen" in the Murmansk region. The production potential of the pilot plants is estimated at 12 thousand tons of hydrogen per year, and all this volume will be exported to the European Union (EU). And according to calculations, the first batch of hydrogen will be shipped in 2024.
Well, let's hope that in the new energy race Russia will be in the first place and will take its rightful place, which will allow us to develop our economy for many years to come.
And what do you personally think, will it be possible to preserve this status of Russia? Write in the comments. If you liked the material, then rate it and do not forget to subscribe to the channel.
