The neighbors hung the eggshells on sticks and placed them in the cabbage patch. I did not shy away and found out why
And again a fiery salute, comrade inquisitive summer resident! It's no secret that on Zen the main suppliers of themes for garden canals are neighbors and mother-in-law. authors who get up on their 6 hundredths of all sorts of strange gizmos and receive because of this "harvest 2 times more".
Let me not deviate from the classics of the genre. In all seriousness, the inhabitants of my village with the poetic name Perkhushkovo hung eggshells on a cabbage bed.
Strange manipulation
It was getting dark. I trotted down the village street, watching a thundercloud approach from the southwest, adding to the crown and urging me on with unambiguous lightning strikes with eerie strikes. Getting caught in a downpour on a June evening was not part of my plans.
But at the neighbour's lot, I put down a gear. In the evening twilight, snow-white spheres sparkled in the garden. "Not the lights of St. Elmo!" - flashed through my head. Blinking my myopic eyes painfully, I saw that in reality the white spots turned out to be halves of an eggshell, planted on sticks, which were stuck between the newly planted cabbage.
Can you imagine my surprise, right? I spent the whole evening tossing and turning in bed and thinking about what I saw.
Interrogation with predilection
In the morning, discarding the feeling of inconvenience and shame for my ignorance, I went to the site to the neighbors and demanded an explanation. Fortunately, there was a plausible reason to come in: Peter owes me 100 rubles from March 8.
It turns out hanging eggshells should scare off the cabbage butterfly. The one that uses our heads of cabbage as a kindergarten for its caterpillars, without hesitation eating leaves to holes. Peter's wife read this advice in a magazine for summer residents. Poor Petya had no choice but to silently tilt the pegs. He doesn't know how to deal with a spouse's objections, as a marketer would say.
Say, butterflies are very polite and intelligent. They will not sit on a head of cabbage already occupied by a friend. The point here is not only respect for the fellow tribesman, but also anxiety: "Will there be enough food for all the caterpillars?"
And now the cabbage flies, flies. Sees a head of cabbage. And then - a white spot of a devoured egg, which he takes for another butterfly of its kind. This is a signal for her: "Don't lay your eggs here! It is not polite!". So the cabbage remains safe and sound ...
Where is the truth?
I'll be honest: this is the first time I've seen such a scarer and don't understand the psychology of butterflies. Therefore, comrade, I want to ask your opinion: can eggshells scare away the cabbage pest?
Citizens! Put "Thumbs up" if my story and find turned out to be interesting. Sincerely yours, Fyodor Tyapkin-Sklyankin, always spying on neighbors.
P.S. But the steward did not give Petya to me!
