How to make beautiful beds and not dig up the whole garden every spring

Every spring, in dachas and villages, the most important and most difficult job is digging and preparing the beds. Someone plows their site with a walk-behind tractor or a motor-cultivator, someone in the old-fashioned way digs with a shovel. And then the paths and the beds themselves are planned. But especially advanced summer residents do differently.

Instead of plowing or digging up the entire area under the beds, they equip high beds of flat slate (or other materials) and simply loosen the earth in them.

In addition to being just beautiful, this method also has another set of solid pluses. You do not need to dig up the entire area of ​​the garden - only the earth inside such beds is dug up or loosened up.

The beds can be made high and it becomes easier to care for the plantings. When watering, water does not flow from the garden to the paths, everything remains inside the fenced garden. Heating can be done inside such beds. In the fall, we take out the earth in a wheelbarrow and transport it to the side, and in the spring we put manure or various leaves on the bottom, and sprinkle it back with earth. All this will rot with the release of heat. It is also food for crops.

It is convenient to attach arcs to the fence of such beds for arranging a greenhouse. Or just cover a garden bed on them for a faster emergence of crops.

The most durable option for such beds will be beds made of flat slate. The boards will rot quickly enough. Even impregnation will not help for a long time.

The easiest option to assemble the beds from flat slate is as follows: we make markings, drive in metal corners in the corners (you can buy trimmings based on a second metal - it's cheaper). We tighten the supports in the middle part with a welded thin pipe or thick wire. We drill holes in the slate sheets and fasten them with self-tapping screws to the metal (or bolted connections).

Someone buys larch bars and screws the sheets for high beds with self-tapping screws. It is easier and faster to install.

The sheets of flat slate themselves will have to be cut with a grinder with a disc over the stone, while wetting the cut.

Well, and for areas with a steep slope, beds with supports on the underside of flat slate (in the form of terraces) are the best option.
