Without any chemistry: a folk remedy for mosquitoes, ticks and midges

Fishing, outdoor recreation, and just daily work in the garden can be overshadowed by annoying blood-sucking insects. And if the bites of mosquitoes and midges can only cause itching, then the jokes with ticks are already bad. If this vampire from the world of insects clung to, then you have to drop everything and go to the hospital. To protect yourself from such problems, prepare a folk remedy, which we will discuss below.

What is needed for this

A folk remedy for that and a folk, so that the composition does not contain expensive components and even more so chemistry. By the way, the absence of chemicals in the composition is an indisputable advantage over store-bought aerosols and ointments.

To prepare our repellent you will need:

• baby cream;
• infusion of valerian;
• vanillin.

And also for the manufacture of ointment, a sealed container with a lid is useful. A jar of some cosmetic cream is perfect.

What needs to be done

Pour one teaspoon of valerian infusion into a cream jar and pour 2.5 grams of vanillin. To make it easier to navigate the dosage of vanillin, see the weight on the package. Then add 6 tablespoons of baby cream and mix until smooth. The product is ready! It remains to apply it to open areas and get effective protection from mosquitoes, ticks and midges for 4-6 hours.

Vanillin and valerian are two natural ingredients that most blood-sucking insects cannot tolerate. In this case, the baby cream acts as an "adhesive" and is also responsible for the duration of the action of the product. The fact is that these components lose their effect upon contact with sweat. And the baby cream envelops these substances and protects from direct contact with the skin, thereby increasing and prolonging the effectiveness of the product.

Bonus tip

If you want mosquitoes not to fly in an open gazebo, then use another folk remedy, but with a different principle of action. Here the tinder fungus comes to the rescue, which can be found in almost any forest or park. Cut the tinder fungus into small plates, dry them and use as a mosquito coil. That is, set fire and extinguish so that this wood plate smokes. This smoke repels very well not only mosquitoes, but also horseflies.
