Can the reinforcement be fixed with plastic ties? We answer the question

click fraud protection

The assembly of the reinforcing cage is a responsible process, since the strength of a reinforced concrete product depends, among other things, on how the reinforcing bars are connected. At this stage, many people have a question: “Is it possible to fasten the reinforcement with plastic ties? It's also easier and faster! " Let's figure this out.

A bit of theory

The reinforcement has two types of connection - rigid and flexible. A rigid connection is when the fittings are welded or assembled using crimp and threaded couplings. By the way, installation on couplings with tapered threads is considered the most modern, technologically advanced and durable type of valve connection. No less durable, but simpler and more common is the rigid connection of the reinforcement for welding.

The flexible type of connection of reinforcing rods in the frame is called - knitting - this is when the frame elements are fastened using baked steel wire with a diameter of 1 to 1.4 mm. This connection is considered the most unreliable. Knitting is usually done with a crochet hook or a special knitting gun. This is what many see as the main problem - the low speed of work.

So is it possible to connect the reinforcement with plastic ties?

A question with a certain trick and we will answer it like this: where the project provides for a flexible connection, that is, knitting with steel wire, you can fix the frame with plastic ties! But, there are some nuances: screeds / clamps should be strong and of high quality, and not anyhow. Polyamide 6.6 ties are best suited for fastening reinforcement. This material is strong and resilient. It, of course, is inferior in strength to a wire connection, but for the foundation of a private house it is acceptable.

It would seem, why choose high-quality clamps if the frame hardens in a monolith and does not need screeds? There are two reasons for choosing durable plastic fasteners. Firstly, you will have to walk on the frame during its assembly and the joints must withstand this. Secondly, during the pouring of concrete or its vibration, additional loads appear on the frame, which the fasteners must withstand. The integrity of the frame should not be compromised by the above factors.

But this is not yet a complete answer to the question posed.

The trick is this: some believe that welding can also be replaced with plastic joints. But it is strictly forbidden to do this! Where a rigid connection is foreseen, such as welding or mounting on threaded or crimped sockets, tie cannot be used. If the project provides for welding, then there should be welding - there is no place for any "analogues"!
