What is it like to move to a dacha for the purpose of permanent residence? How to live with partial comforts in winter? Does it pull you back into the apartment? How do you manage the household alone? The lack of answers to these questions discourages many from the desire to live in a country house, and even more so in the country. Our interlocutor Tatiana will tell you about all the pros and cons of dacha life.

Briefly about your situation

I've been retired for six years. I have lived all my life in an apartment. The husband died of a stroke five years ago. After his death, it became unbearable to be in the apartment: lingering melancholy and idleness. Sometimes children and grandchildren visit, but this happens twice a month and does not help much.

Yes, and health has recently begun to take a little - then the pressure jumps, then the heart colitis, then the lower back aches. Plus a depressed state. I decided that I would not last so long and that I needed to change something in my life. Still, mental pain turns into physical pain and the person burns out before our eyes. Such cases are not uncommon.

So, I decided to move out of town. I did not consider the option of buying a full-fledged house, since I did not plan to sell the apartment - this was for my grandchildren. Gathered all the savings in a heap; I sold my husband's garage, car and motorboat and bought a dacha 17 kilometers from the city.

My cottage

Dacha - a wooden house with a total area of ​​45 sq. meters on a plot of 8 acres. The house has electricity, stove heating, water from a well, draining into a pit. The house is not quite summer, it is slightly adapted for winter stays with short raids. There are berry bushes and fruit trees on the plot. Not far from the dacha village there is a forest.

Buses run by the village on the highway. There is even a small shop, but the entire "civilization" (market and supermarkets) is located 20 kilometers from this place. And people live here: some live only in the summer, and some even for permanent residence (but there are few of them). In general, I liked the village and I decided to stay here.

This dacha cost me 890 thousand rubles. I additionally insulated the house with the help of hired builders: the walls outside were sheathed with EPS and revetted with siding; floors and ceilings - 200 mm mineral wool; installed plastic windows and an insulated door. And she also brought water into the house and insulated the well, made a toilet, installed a shower cabin and an electric water heater.

She dismantled the old stove and invited the foreman to build a new one for economical heating. I built a spacious woodshed in the yard. In general, about 550 thousand rubles were spent on modernizing the house and preparing it for permanent residence. I met the planned amount.

Pros of country life

The first and most important thing for a pensioner is health, which in such conditions immediately recovers. I moved in May, and in August I forgot about all the sores and fluttered like a butterfly.

Dacha is always busy! Working in the garden, which has become my favorite hobby, drove all bad thoughts out of my head. The head was cleared, and this affected the improvement of the condition. On the contrary, pain in the back and joints, on the contrary, disappeared from active physical activity. Physical activity was beneficial, and I even began to feel that way 15 years younger. Conclusion: in the apartment there is not so much employment and activity, from this a person wastes away. The sofa and TV are silent killers.

Dacha is fresh air 24 hours a day! As they say, even cut the air and eat it! It revitalizes, invigorates, gives a lot of energy, in the end - heals. I have worked all my life in the chemical industry associated with the production of rubber. In addition to her meager pension, she earned chronic bronchitis. The cough was constantly pursuing: in winter and summer, in the apartment and on the street. Here he passed. I suffered with him for 15 years, treated both with medicines and folk remedies. But one had only to live four months in nature, and there was no trace of chronic, according to doctors, bronchitis!

Dacha means environmentally friendly food, savings on food and additional income. Firstly, these are vegetables, fruits and herbs from your own garden. These are not store products, grown on chemicals and for long-term storage processed by the same chemicals, which, moreover, rats climb in warehouses. Everything here is natural. The benefits of vitamins from your garden are felt immediately. In addition to the feeling of youth and inexhaustible energy, the skin became better, the body was cleansed, digestion improved, headaches were gone. In addition, there is always a great supply of spins. Secondly, there are not only products from their own garden, but also natural, forest products. I became an avid mushroom and berry picker. I go to the forest, walk, stock up on valuable products. This is both health and economy. Sometimes there are a lot of mushrooms and I even manage to take them to the city and sell them. Now I am mastering the salting of mushrooms, since a small can of such a delicacy costs from 500 rubles, and this is a good increase to my pension! Thirdly, I got into the habit of buying natural farm products: milk, meat, poultry; fishermen bring the freshest fish. This, too, cannot be compared with store-bought products.

Dacha means communication and positive emotions. From spring to autumn there is no time to get bored. All city friends are asking for a visit. Someone constantly lives with me: friends or relatives. The atmosphere is good, unlike urban problems and gossip, there are only positive emotions. All mental dirt goes away against the backdrop of a wonderful nature.

Minuses

Here's what I can highlight from the disadvantages.

• First, sometimes it is cold in the house, you have to constantly fire the stove, which leads to overconsumption of firewood. But this is a maximum of one and a half months a year. Once the water froze. She herself could not warm the pipes and carried water in buckets for a week and a half. In the spring, the water supply system was thoroughly insulated.

• Second, the lights are often turned off. In case of accidents on the line, it is not immediately repaired. It happens that you have to wait for electricity for three days. This is also fixable - I bought a generator, the electricians promised to connect it to the network through the shield.
• The third is buying firewood. They bring firewood, but you need to find a person in order to move and chop them. There are few workers in the dacha village. Sometimes I ask the children to come to prepare firewood.
• Fourth, groceries (cereals, household chemicals, medicines, etc.) have to be bought in the city. I go for this once every two months. I hire a taxi from the city. Costs a little expensive. If you need something urgently, you have to break down and go to the city. This takes at least half a day.
• Fifth, gas stove cylinders also have to be brought by taxi. It's expensive and not everyone agrees to go. I change the cylinder once a month and a half.
• Sixth - unsafe in winter. When tenants leave their dachas in the fall, robbers often stop by or call in. They rob houses and yards, drag everything, including scrap metal. I am afraid alone, because I have a lot of goodness. This is a TV, a washing machine, a refrigerator, a generator, and other things. The police won't come right away. Once, when thieves climbed in a neighbor's dacha, I had to shout that I would wake up my husband with a gun and call the police. The thieves escaped and the police arrived 20 minutes later. At my request, they were on duty in the car for three hours. But it's good that it went like this. And if the thieves were smarter and bolder, they would understand that there is no husband and a gun. They would hit me and take advantage of my good. As a result, I got a thoroughbred guard dog. "Goonies" are healthy, they eat me up a little, but they keep a good guard. It's better not to get caught in the teeth like that.

• The seventh to sleep is rodents. They get it, especially in winter. They gnaw the insulation, arrange the nests, spoil the stocks. We have to throw poison everywhere, put mousetraps, keep cats. Now I am thinking how to solve this problem radically.

But, in general, all the cons are solvable. I have been living at the dacha for three years already, I do not feel like living in an apartment, I am happy with everything and I do not regret anything!
