Soulless people and fluffy street kids: how our neighborhood turned into a dangerous "zoo"

Stray animals have become an acute problem in cities and towns. News regularly comes from different parts of the country that stray dogs are attacking people. The authorities are trying to combat this, but this problem is not being resolved so quickly. Our interlocutor Lyudmila will tell about who is the source of this misfortune to a greater extent.

How stray animals "begin"

Five years ago, we bought a house in the suburbs. One might even say, on the outskirts - behind our streets there is a lake and an open field. There is a poultry farm seven kilometers from us; in the area of ​​the lake there is a recreation center and there is also some small agricultural enterprise.

The area itself was new at that time, most of the houses were just being built. In 2017, no more than a quarter of the village was inhabited. Why am I telling all this? And besides, there were no stray animals here at all. In this regard, the area was completely sterile.

A year later, the village became more and less inhabited, shops were opened here, minibuses began to run. Then this problem appeared. Some visiting people (although the language does not turn to call them that) decided that it is possible to take and throw pets into the village, and we will take care of them.

Once I was walking out of the store and saw a box right on the road. There was a cat with kittens in it. Domestic cat, thoroughbred; kittens are not more than a month old. Well, of course, I took them home. So I got the Marquis. I raised the kittens and distributed them to my friends.

The calculation of these soulless people worked at first. Some of the abandoned animals were tamed and they found their second home. For example, my neighbor got a Labrador Gray in this way. He was pushed out of the car right before our eyes. Yes, and I adopted a dog of some kind of hunting breed.

The animals were thrown away, most likely, by the tenants of the apartments from the nearby microdistrict, built up with high-rise buildings. For one reason or another, they refused pets and brought them to us in order to shift the responsibility and drown out the voice of conscience a little. But they have no conscience, since they do this!

We threw a lot of purebred cats and dogs. There were Dobermans, and Staffordshire terriers, and pit bulls, and Rottweilers, and purebred dogs of smaller caliber. But thoroughbreds were quickly dismantled in the yards - after all, they cost money and there is no place for them in the field. Many mongrel dogs were brought to us, which then wandered around the neighborhood in search of food.

Problem

But, as native Muscovites say, “Moscow is not rubber,” so is our village. Most of the yards were staffed with dogs and cats of all stripes, and many abandoned animals turned into street children. At first, they were treated somehow condescendingly (fed), but then the problem became too obvious.

Stray dogs huddled in flocks, gutted garbage bins, begged and outright extortion from shops, climbed around yards, dug under fences and sheds. It became noisy in the street - constant barking and squealing: dog packs fought for territory, "beat" newcomers. Dogs and cats began to get hit by cars often, as we have a pass.

After a short time, these packs began to multiply and the population of stray dogs grew. It became scary to let the children go outside, and it’s dangerous to walk on our own. Imagine: you are carrying food, and you are surrounded by a pack led by a huge pedigree dog. Although they did not bite anyone here, it was scary. In general, dog packs prowled all over the place.

Solution

We contacted the administration and they took action. Stray animals were sterilized and tagged. This is correct and over time would somehow reduce the number of furry street children. But the problem of soulless people has not gone away. They also come and drop the animals.

I once caught a mother who threw out a young pedigree cat not far from my house. To my question "What is the reason for such cruelty and heartlessness?", I received the answer - "The child is allergic." "What did you think when the kitten was brought home?" I asked. “We didn't know it would be like this,” she said and dropped her eyes. As a result, I took this cat for myself!

But here is an allergy, and this is somehow, but can justify her sneaky act. After all, a child is on the other side of the scale. But there are people who abandon their pets because of moving to another city, or even because they have nowhere to put them on vacation! Another "man" we caught, said that he did not have the means to buy a carrier for a dog to take it to another city by train! How does that even happen ?!

The problem will not end until stupid and irresponsible people start thinking with their heads before purchasing an animal. This is not a toy to be thrown away. This is a living being, which, moreover, treats a person like a family!
