How to make a garden figurine "pumpkin" with your own hands: instructions and photos

Garden figurines are optional. Some of them can be made by yourself. Today we will tell you how to make a decorative pumpkin using a stocking and cement mortar. We are sure that this easy way will give you pleasure, and new original decorations will appear on your personal plot.

What is necessary

From inventory and materials you will need:

• nylon tights or stockings;
• rope;
• liter can;
• cement and sand;
• bucket;
• concrete primer;
• green and orange paint;
• knife, brushes and other auxiliary tools.

How to make a concrete pumpkin figurine

The pumpkin manufacturing technology is very simple and even a schoolchild can easily master it. The stocking will act as a form for the concrete, and the binding with ropes will give the figure the necessary relief.

• Dilute the grout. To do this, mix 1 part of cement, 3 parts of sand in a bucket, fill it all with water and mix until smooth. The cement-sand mortar should resemble thick dough in consistency.

• Fill the stocking with the prepared solution and form a ball with a diameter of 15-25 cm. To make it convenient to do this, place the stocking in the jar with the toe down, and put its open edge over the neck. This forms a kind of funnel and it will be easier to apply the solution through it.

• Tie the concrete ball in the stocking with ropes 4 times. The ropes should cut a little into the mortar and give it a pumpkin shape. Leave the formed solution (product) to dry for one day.

• After a day, cut off the ropes and stockings. Clean the pumpkin from the remaining solution and moisten abundantly with water. Prepare a little more cement-sand mortar in the proportions: 1 part of cement; 2 pieces of sand. This solution will go to the formation of the leaf, tail and antennae.

• Apply some solution to the top of the pumpkin and print a leaf from a plant on it. That is, press down the slurry with a sheet so that its imprint remains on the concrete. Remove excess with a knife so that the print is distinct. A grape or maple leaf is perfect.

• Then roll some more solution into "sausages", form a tail and antennae from them, and gently attach / stick them to the pumpkin. Cover the figurine with cellophane and leave to dry for a week. After seven days, cover the pumpkin with a primer and paint. That's all!
