China is developing a large hypersonic passenger aircraft
Engineers from the Middle Kingdom are working on the development of a hypersonic aircraft, which, according to the configuration of the wings strongly resembles the French-British Concord, but the dimensions of the Chinese aircraft will be even larger Boeing-737. It is about this development that I want to tell you today.
What is known about a hypersonic passenger plane from China
It is known that the aircraft under development will have a length of about 45 meters, which is one third longer than the length of such an aircraft as the Boeing 737-700 and will be equipped with a pair of jet engines. In this case, the wings of the aircraft will have a triangular shape, almost the same as those of the famous Concorde.
It is also known that the engineers used an aerodynamic model in the development, the effectiveness of which was proved during the recent space operations of the PRC, taking place at high altitudes.
Engineers have yet to find solutions to strengthen some of the zones on the wings, which, according to all calculations and tests, will be exposed to the greatest overloads and temperature changes at speeds exceeding Mach 6 (more than 7000 kilometers in hour).
So, according to the plan, by 2025 in China, all experiments will be completed, during which all the most important and critical details of hypersonic technology, including testing the next jet engine generations.
After another 10 years, China is planning to actively operate its own fleet of hypersonic aircraft that will be able to deliver up to 10 passengers to absolutely anywhere on the planet Earth in just 60 minutes.
And by 2045, it is planned to develop and operate hypersonic aircraft that will be able to carry from 100 people per flight.
In the meantime, supersonic aircraft are used exclusively by the military and, despite their rather significant dimensions, for there is not much space for passengers, and the level of comfort (strong vibration and high temperature) leaves much to be desired the best.
Well, given the dedication and the latest achievements of Chinese scientists, I readily believe that they will succeed. And it is quite possible that soon it will be possible to get from Beijing to Sydney within one hour.
