I calculate the cost of harvesting cucumbers
With the rise in prices for food, building materials, things and so on, you have to count, as they say, every penny. In recent years, we have pretty much lost the habit of this, the savings were no longer as total as in the late 90s and early 2000s. Now the situation resembles that period. The salary, in fact, is not enough until the end of the month.
We have our own vegetable garden, greenhouses, so it is impossible to say that we do not have enough for food. We still grow vegetables on our own. But even here I would like to say that making blanks, as they say, “from scratch,” is also not very profitable.
This year I had to buy a seamer as the old one fell apart at the end of last season. And such a device for closing cans cost me 410 rubles.
Caps, which are a permanent consumable, are also expensive. For example, seaming caps cost 99 rubles for a package of 50 pieces. And the screw caps sell for 159 rudders per pack of 20. They can, of course, be reused, but only with very careful handling.
Banks are also not cheap. One and a half liter, which are best suited for cucumbers, cost 49 rubles.
True, in another store I found them for 39.9 rubles. I bought several pieces. We have not canned anything in 3-liter jars for a long time, only a little cherry and apple compotes.
A can of 950 grams will cost 24 rubles, a half-liter - 15 rubles. I do not count cucumbers, I also have all the seasonings from my garden. Salt is still available, although the quality is very poor. I don't even know which salt to choose for pickling cucumbers. It is salt with all sorts of additives that is the reason for the poor preservation of home canned food in recent years. So you have to eat fresh cucumbers.
But, on the other hand, take a look at the price tag (for a special offer !!!) for a 1.9 liter can of pickled cucumbers at a price of 245.99 rubles, sigh and go with a pure heart to spin your own, environmentally friendly cucumbers without any chemistry.
