What giant tomatoes have you grown?
I am sure that my winners in the battle of red giant tomatoes will be far behind yours. And yet I will show them. For me, this is phenomenal weight. All tomatoes were grown in a greenhouse, tall.
Winner - Tomato Daetwyler Company, 727 g
My variety turned out to be late-ripening, although, according to the description, it was mid-ripening. All three first Daetwyler tomatoes are very large. There are 5 more small, completely green ones. If we can adapt the variety, the yield will hopefully be higher.
The second place in weight is occupied by the third fruit of the Daetwyler Company, removed on August 16:
An old variety, a Swiss relic, now maintained by the American collector Dale Thurber.
These tomatoes have everything to the maximum: they crack strongly, the aroma is excellent, the taste is 5. The only thing is that the yield pumped up, apparently, it was a bit hot for him in the greenhouse this summer.
How much did the competitors weigh?
The difference between them is 1 g, it happens so!
The first Minusinsk ball was in mid-July. In total, I had 5 Minusinsk varieties, one giant. And the leader of taste is different, I will write about him with love separately.
Both varieties with a wonderful aroma, both cracked, but not to the point of disgrace. Very tasty! Minusinsk balls have good yields. True, all my varieties are newbies, not adapted, so next season they have a chance to show themselves even better.
Other large tomatoes are growing, but, in my opinion, they will not catch up with these beefs in weight.
Here is another large tomato from open ground, 602 g:
And what are your record-breaking tomatoes?
I would be grateful for your subscription and communication :)
