How to easily clean water pipes and improve the water pressure in the tap: a life hack from plumbers

If hot or cold water does not come out of your tap well, then the matter is most likely in the blockage of the water pipes. Do not rush to call a plumber, today we will tell you how to clean pipes in one simple but extremely effective way.

Why water pipes are clogged

Water contains many impurities that are deposited on the walls of the pipes during the operation of the water supply system. These are rust, sand, crystalline growths (calcium carbonate crystallites), and in some cases even algae. Rust also forms in plastic pipes, as it flakes off from old pipes, and pressurized water carries it along the risers. All this reduces the working diameter of the water supply system and reduces the water pressure. Valves and taps, meters, pipe elbows and filters suffer most from these factors. If the problem has not been started, that is, the water supply system is not 25 years old, then you can easily get rid of it.

How this method works

The method is based on the creation of an impromptu water hammer. Often, cold and hot water pipes are clogged at different rates and this makes it possible to redirect pressure from one pipe to another. Usually deposits are formed in a special way - "downstream", so to speak. If water is supplied under pressure into the pipe against its direction of movement, then the plaque will most likely fly off the walls and come out of the water supply system.

We repeat: we are not talking about neglected cases!

This method requires a water inlet hose from any washing machine and a minimum set of keys to remove the mixer.

Algorithm of actions:

• shut off hot and cold water;

• remove the mixer;
• screw the hose from the washing machine onto the thread of the pipes (you should get a closed circuit in which the inlet hose connects the hot and cold water pipes);
• alternately open hot and cold water taps (hot water was opened and after 5 seconds closed; opened cold water for the same time and closed; do this at least 5-7 times);
• turn off the water, disconnect the hose from the hot water pipe and open the cold water so that all the dirt comes out of the pipe;
• disconnect the hose from the cold water pipe, connect it to the hot one and turn on the water so that plaque and debris come out of the hot water pipe;
• turn off the water, clean and install the mixer.

Thanks to these actions, most of the plaque, which caused the blockage of the pipes, will peel off from the walls and come out with a stream of water.
