World's first electric storage ship to be built in Japan
So, according to the plan, the Japanese corporation PowerX plans to complete the assembly of the world's first vessel by 2025, the main purpose of which is to store and transport electricity.
The first electricity storage ship in history and its main characteristics
So, according to the publication Saur Energy, PowerX is developing a project to create a vessel, the main purpose of which will be to transport electricity.
The ship became known as Power ARK 100 and is based on a trimaran, on the deck of which special containers with batteries will be located. At the same time, about 2 MW * h will accumulate in each such box. energy.
According to calculations, the carrying capacity of the ship will allow placing about 100 TEU on decks with a total with a capacity of approximately 200 MW * h, which for a minute is equal to a daily consumption of 22 thousand at once households.
At the same time, the maximum power reserve of the Power ARK 100 on pure electric propulsion will be at least 300 km, and on a combination of electric traction and biodiesel, the cruising range increases to 1-3 thousand kilometers.
So, according to calculations, this will be more than enough in order to carry out regular flights to the wind generators mounted in the coastal zone of Japan.
And engineers believe that such a ship will prove to be a cheap, and most importantly, an environmentally friendly alternative for submarine cables.
Many Western experts in the military sphere have already turned their attention to the new concept of the Japanese company. So, according to Western experts, ships of this class can also serve as filling stations for charging submarine batteries.
In addition, such trimarans will be able to recharge unmanned electric ships in a similar way, which are currently being developed in many countries around the world.
And it turns out that such a ship will be interesting both in the civilian field and in the military sphere. Well, let's see what the Japanese specialists get in the end.
