Working tricks of craftsmen with ceramic tiles (marking, a hole without a drill, the best discs for a clean cut)
Ceramic tiles are a convenient, familiar to everyone, finishing material for an apartment, house, office. Tiles - finishes for floors, walls, stairs, backsplash, etc. I will reveal some of the nuances, tricks when working with tiles. Perhaps you will learn something new for yourself. I hope for support in the form of likes and subscriptions!
Tile markup
If you want to cut a tile to a specific size, you must first make a markup. It is inconvenient to do this with a marker, then you need to erase. And if the tiles are glossy and black, the markings will not be clearly visible.
A pencil on glossy tiles will not be able to draw a visible line. If it is matte and light, then another question. But you have to take a soft pencil. The shops sell a special marker for glass and ceramics in different shades.
If you don't want to spend money and run to the store, then you can make markings with aluminum wire or use masking tape.
We glue it, draw a clear line with a simple pencil.
Adhesive in the seam of the tile
When laying the tiles, glue gets into the seam. To then fill the joints with grout, you need to clean the joints. It will take more than one hour if the area is large. How can I avoid this problem?
When we start to draw with a comb, the glue can go onto the tile. Some people think that glue should be applied farther from the tile. But then voids will turn out, and the tile can later crack in these places.
Solution: take 2 spatulas (one regular). We substitute a straight spatula to the end of the tile, and apply the glue with the second (comb).
How to make a hole in a tile without a drill?
You will need such a screw.
Using a screwdriver at low speed, we begin to drill a hole with a screw.
Everything turns out quickly and without chips.
How to close the end of a tile?
Some people solve the problem like this: they paint the butt end with acrylic paint for ceramics and glass. But this is too laborious work. The butt end in the corners can be neatly closed with corners or (more difficult option) you can make a 45 degree burr.
There are such options: plastic profile, grout, sealant.
Blades for clean and fast cutting of ceramics and porcelain stoneware
I use grinder discs for cutting. In the first place I have a diamond disc Hilberg HM 403. Provides a thin cut without chips, dirt. Can be cut without water. Attention: buy discs only from an authorized dealer, otherwise you can buy a fake, discs with defects.
Just as good Hilberg HM 620, thickness 1.4 mm. This disc is for stone, hard materials.
Many probably know about Distar 7D 125 mm. Also a quick cutter, cuts tiles with a bang.
