What to do in a greenhouse in autumn
By the end of August, I try to remove all tomato fruits from the greenhouse. Low-growing varieties give the harvest closer to mid-August. I remove plant residues and apply fertilizers.
Harvesting another crop
In the greenhouse, you can use the beds for different crops after you have completely removed the tomato bushes. For example, plant greens, onions on greens, cruciferous crops (radish, daikon).
The soil needs to be fed, because the tomatoes have drawn out many nutrients from it. It is also a good option to add dolomite flour to make the soil more neutral and deoxidize it.
It is advisable to use organic matter as a fertilizer: compost, vermicompost, ash. You can also apply any organomineral universal fertilizer of prolonged action in the amount of 100-200 grams per 1 sq. meter (see the norm on the package, each fertilizer has its own numbers). After that, the earth must be loosened with a Fokin plane cutter or a pitchfork so that the granules penetrate 15-20 cm deeper than the surface layer.
Further, the bed must be shed with any biological product based on living microorganisms, for example, Fitosporin or Trichodermin, which will heal the soil.
If tomatoes ripen in a greenhouse in September
For many summer residents, green tomatoes, eggplants, cucumbers and peppers are still ripening in September. If during this period of time there is no frost, then the vegetables ripen successfully.
Watering in September should be minimal, it is better to use mulch in the beds, which prevents evaporation of moisture from the soil and reduces condensation in the greenhouse, which provokes the development of fungal diseases.
Whenever possible, greenhouse doors should be kept open during the day. Vegetables will be more comfortable in cool, dry air than in humid air.
During this period, plants should be root-fed. On a leaf in September, it is desirable not to spray crops like cucumbers and tomatoes with a fertilizer solution, since excess condensate contributes to the appearance of diseases in the greenhouse on plants.
From fertilizers, you can use complex organomineral fertilizers, potassium monophosphate and ash.
To support the plants during the cold snap, it is recommended to use succinic acid, Zircon or Epin-extra, so that the bushes become more resistant to sudden fluctuations in ambient temperatures.
