Secrets, little tricks of the carpenter-roofer (repair, installation of the roof)
Quality roofing, saved time and money - this is what every craftsman strives for. Let's take a look at some of the tricks and share the invaluable experience of roofers.
Do not forget that it is better to purchase roofing and other materials in the off-season. Prices at this time are reduced and you can buy everything you need at a good discount.
The simplest and most inexpensive roof material is slate.
If you drill holes for fasteners in advance, then the roof will have an aesthetic appearance and installation will take place faster. After completing the work, it is better to cut off the uneven edges of the roof with a grinder.
Having made a roof from slate, many see such a problem: water flows from under the mount. Therefore, use rubber pads for nails.
A crack or hole in the roof can be sealed with special butyl rubber tape.
It can be glued to any surface. You can use regular foil and coat it with roofing sealant on top. Or, as an option, fill up the hole, cracks. Then cut off the foam and coat with sealant on top. A special rubber sealant is on sale.
Which fasteners are best for the roof? It is not recommended to use nails, it is better to buy galvanized steel roofing screws. Better with rare carvings. It will twist faster, and will hold on to the tree stronger due to rare turns.
It is better to fasten the rafter system with self-tapping screws. Long screws are screwed through. It's cheaper and faster than the corners.
For soft tiles, there are special nails - comb or brushed. The strength of such a connection will be 7 times greater than that of conventional nails, although dismantling is difficult.
To make it convenient to hammer in nails, pierce a piece of cardboard with a nail, and as soon as the nail is hammered, remove the cardboard.
Consider mounting ceiling beams to Mauerlat. This element is also called the roof foundation. The beam has a slot for the Mauerlat. It turns out that it works, holds the load of one section, the part on top, which stands on the support (see. drawing).
In order for the whole beam to work, you need to screw in a self-tapping screw.
