Production of paving slabs at home - is it worth it? Personal experience without embellishment
Now you can find a lot of profitable business ideas for a garage, home, yard. Perhaps one of the most common is the production of paving slabs and other concrete products. This is a simple matter and, if desired, it will be mastered by a person without construction education. But is it as beneficial as it is presented? Our interlocutor Igor will answer this question.
How did the idea come about
Working for an uncle and a salary ceiling of 30 thousand rubles always made me think about increasing income. Once it boiled and I started looking for a suitable business idea. There was not much money for investments, only 300 thousand rubles, so I "danced" from this amount.
Somehow I came across a business plan for the production of paving slabs. Everything was very profitable in the calculations. This required a room of 50 sq. meters and a minimum set of equipment, which includes: concrete mixer, vibrating table, molding table and molds.
At such facilities, it is possible to produce up to 100 sq. meters of tiles per shift and earn up to 250 thousand rubles a month. The idea, confirmed by calculations, turned out to be more than tempting and I decided to implement it. All that remained was to undergo training and start earning.
Training and equipment
I found an interesting complex offer on the Internet. One manufacturer of plastic molds promised to train the technology for producing "marble" from concrete and to supply a set of equipment and molds. All this cost 190 thousand rubles. Since I have a yard, a garage and a shed where production can be expanded, I decided not to delay, but to order equipment and go to training.
The training lasted only 5 days. As a result, I learned how to make tiles with imitation of 7 types of natural stone and received a technology with all the secrets. It remains only to wait for the equipment, dyes, plasticizer and start "forging" your happiness.

Start
Two weeks later, a shipment with equipment and forms came from the supplier. It was here that I immediately got the feeling that I had been very well deceived. The equipment was not worth the money I paid for it. Everything is made of thin metal, flimsy, seemingly unreliable. But there was nowhere to go - I had to work on what to eat.
For this business, I found an assistant, with whom I agreed that for the first month of work I would pay him 20 thousand, and then we would switch to piecework. We started to work. In the early days, they produced 20-30 square meters. meters of tiles, and a week later - 50. For my garage, this was the largest possible production volume. When about 350 square meters of finished products had accumulated in the yard, I decided to sell them. According to my calculations, from this amount I should have earned 55 thousand rubles. For the first two weeks, it was a decent amount. With this money, he hoped to purchase raw materials and give an advance payment to the employee.
But sales went really badly. Clients were found, but refused for various reasons. Someone didn't want to go to my remote area; someone needed loading with a manipulator, which, of course, I did not have; many needed delivery to the place, and some even styling.
In general, in two weeks only three people came and bought 27 sq. meters of tiles. The money received was not even enough to pay the employee. I dropped the price to 200-220 rubles / sq. m. and only then they began to take it a little. The process went sluggishly, and this did not contribute to the development of production in any way. I think we need to move to a normal room and that's where things will go!
A quick end
Rented a room of 100 sq. meters for 15 thousand. rubles a month, moved the equipment to it and resumed work. But sales did not go on at the new location either. People called, but for some reason did not come. The reasons are the same - no loading, no delivery, no packing. All this required money, which was not available.
The range of tiles was also extremely poor. It's beautiful, but not functional. It turned out that the gloss is slippery when wet, but with active use it quickly wears off. And the colors fade instantly. Literally a month later, she became faded and inconspicuous. Because of this, claims started. I promised my clients marble at the price of concrete, and they received poorly painted concrete in return.
As a result, I worked it out until the cold weather and closed. During this time, he acquired debts for the rent of premises and for the salaries of employees. The equipment, which, so, barely breathed, had to be left to the landlord for debts. I paid off with the workers by selling the remnants of the tiles at a cheap price.
Output
To be engaged in the production of paving slabs and other piece concrete products is a losing business. A small workshop will never surpass dozens of large enterprises professionally engaged in the production of tiles and paving stones. They have everything in place - from the supply of raw materials at wholesale prices to the delivery and installation of the coating. They also have extensive advertising campaigns, which a private trader with one concrete mixer will never pull.
The myth that the production of tiles in the garage is a profitable business was invented by sellers of molds, equipment and various technologies. Their task is to give hope to a person who wants to start a business with a small start-up capital, take this money from him, and in return sell him a bunch of junk called molds and equipment.
Concrete marble technology is also primitive and not worth the money that is asked for it. If you are interested in it, write in the comments and I will ask the FORUMHOUSE editors to publish it in the next issues.
