After all the difficulties and difficulties in laying the screed in my house, priming its surface seems to be some kind of trifle (in fact, it is - an intermediate stage). But even in this preparation, there are little things that need to be taken into account so that the work is not wasted ...

Friends, hello everyone. Perhaps today's information will not be a revelation for many, but I still hope that there is still someone in this world less knowledgeable than me 😁.

I didn't think there were so many nuances in simple work with a primer. How to do it efficiently and economically? Conclusions from my experience.

Moreover, I got to all this only after going through practice, and for sure many people want to avoid unnecessary mistakes right away.

Although there will be controversial things (where without it), so all specialists, welcome to the discussion ...

Even after a lot of work, there is no time to relax.

It was after I single-handedly poured the floor screed in my house that it was time to find out what a primer is.

For all the details on this work, see on my channel.

I already wrote that the surface of the screed turned out to be rather weak, and I decided to strengthen and dust it with a primer. And it will be about deep penetration soil, which is most often used in such works.

Here are the points that play an important role:

βœ… Whether to thin the primer or not. I honestly admit that I found out about this dilemma of many builders when the work was done. This option simply did not occur to me.

In general, the soil is sold in two versions:

  • A concentrate that is diluted by definition (but again according to the instructions).
  • And a primer ready to use.

It turns out that the latter, it turns out, can be diluted with water 1/1 (to save naturally).

But there is an important nuance here. This diluted version can only be used on the first coat. And the second time it is passed with an ordinary ready-made primer.

I missed it, so I didn't save... πŸ€”. But nothing ahead of aerated concrete wall decoration. There, this option will be even more useful πŸ‘Œ ...

βœ… What is more convenient to apply? I tried three options and came to the conclusion that one hundred each is good in certain places and conditions.

  • A brush is the first thing that comes to mind, but this is if there is nothing at all at hand (this also happens). A universal option, and work on the area and in hard-to-reach places. But still not very convenient.
  • Here is a roller waving beauty ...

Especially on the floor: I poured the primer directly from the can and went to roll it out. If you attach some kind of stick, it will be even more convenient.

  • Well, the spray gun is already the highest technology 😎. In my case, I used a small garden sprayer. I passed them in inconvenient places, but for a large area the volume is too small. For volume, it is better to buy such a backpack.

I think it's most convenient with him (especially when working with walls. I'll have to take ...).

βœ… Prime until no longer absorbed. This is a theory that can confuse many inexperienced builders.

The primer penetrates the pores on the surface and creates a film already inside the pores. Thus, it removes dust, strengthens and reduces the absorbency of the surface.

❗ But with an overabundance of primer, we can get just a glossy surface, which will not stick at all later (it's like sticking a tile on glass). So everything should be in moderation, and according to the instructions - 2, 3 layers and that's enough.

These are seemingly simple rules, but which will help save both energy and money. And most importantly, the subsequent work will not be in vain ...

Friends, I am waiting for your opinion in the comments. Maybe there is a hundred more that I have not said, share.

subscribe to the channel, and like it πŸ‘. With the floor, I have everything for now, move on to the walls and ceiling. I think it will be interesting.
