Tomatoes with which we have not agreed
Before growing a certain variety of tomato, we get to know it:
- read information
- we grow in our own conditions
After that, we decide whether to grow it or not. And it often turns out that something of fundamental importance is not written anywhere. Example.
Radonili
It was not very fruitful for me. Grew up in the open field. Short, limited growth.
But! All its fruits are cracked:
I saw him in pictures without cracks. How so? My conditions did not suit him. This is what I call: we did not agree with him. I will not sow any more.
Stan Leigh
Here is more interesting. American variety. I did not find his story and the breeder. However, I learned that all new american varieties have a similar history.
A lot of them have appeared in Russia over the past 10 years.
A successful hybrid is unhybridized and sent to Russian collectors as a variety. The author honestly writes that this is the fourth or seventh generation. Imagine F4 or F7... Naturally, someone instead of Lemon Crazy Cherries Barry got red cherries (I know one such case, basically only the size of the brush and the cherry blossoms themselves "walk"). The author of the variety about red tomatoes says: so what, do not collect seeds from them.
So, instead of the tasty large-fruited bicolor Sten Lei, I got pale, though very tasty pears:
Yielding bush. In mid-September:
About half of the fruit is cracked. Therefore, I will not unhybridize it :)
What varieties did you not agree with?
If you are interested in the topic, I will write about other varieties.
