A common plumbing "joint" due to which people then drown in feces

The foreman accepts the object from the installers.

- Why is there no clamp on the sewer pipe?

- Yes, something hesitated and didn’t put it on, but now you can’t stick it in.

- Okay, okay.

It seems that nothing terrible will happen. But time will pass, and such a sewage system will flow.

The pipe in the photo is not secured to the wall with a clamp. “So what,” many will say: “it is monolithic in the overlap”. But this is a non-standard mount and its reliability leaves much to be desired.

At first, around the pipe at the floor level, not concrete is poured, but mortar. Often there is any construction waste, which was only anointed with mortar on top. Sometimes, after a couple of years, it starts to fall on your head.

Secondly, due to thermal expansion, the sewer pipe is mobile. To compensate for them, a gap of 10-13 mm is even provided.

4.20 When placing the bindings:
- when assembling pipeline parts, the compensating ability of one joint with a conventional (not extended) socket is 11 mm for D = 50 mm and 13 mm for D = 110 mm, which provides compensation for deformations of pipeline sections with a length of 0.8 and 1.0, respectively, at the maximum permissible temperatures m.

See what it is fraught with in practice. You move into the house. The first 10-15 years, everything is fine. Then one "fine" day the pipe climbs out of the socket and a leak appears.

Now imagine that someone was doing repairs in the house with the reconstruction of the sewerage system. After that, a compensation pipe appears on the riser. If the pipe is not fixed higher up the riser, with a probability of 90% it will sag in the expansion joint, and will pop out of the bell from the neighbors on top.

If the riser is being repaired within a floor, an expansion pipe is installed.

I hope no one doubts that the sewer pipes need to be fastened. Then we are faced with another problem: how to fix the existing pipe if the plumbers have not installed a clamp. More than once I heard the stories of tenants, to whom a master from housing and communal services comes and makes a helpless gesture: "It will not work to install the clamp, it was missed at the installation stage." Such a plumber simply straightens the pipe, rolls up the electrical tape (sometimes scotch tape) and says that he did everything in his power.

It happens that an experienced craftsman comes across - he knows a cool plumbing life hack: he screws several self-tapping screws into the riser, thereby fixing the pipes relative to each other. Perhaps they will begin to criticize me in the comments, but I think that it is better with a self-tapping screw than without any attachment at all.

I can understand housing and communal services plumbers. Often no one gives them normal materials and tools, and repairs have to be done with a hammer and some kind of mother. I admit that some of the plumbers know about the existence of only one fastener - a collar on a hairpin. But there are many other options.

Modern fasteners allow you to fix anything you want.
Bracket with shelf for lateral pipe fixing.
External pipe mounting bracket.
Safety clamp against disconnecting storm sewer pipes.
Modern fasteners allow you to fix anything you want.

This is only a regular fastener. And if you add all kinds of homemade products here, it becomes clear that any (even mounted) pipe can be securely fixed. If you immediately securely fasten the pipes, then you will not have to look for a leak by smell.
