Flexible hose leaks: installation errors. We change rubber seals so as not to buy a new eyeliner
Flexible hose is the most popular element when installing plumbing fixtures. Now on sale there are many flexible hoses for every taste and budget. They are designed to connect boilers, bidets, mixers, showers, boilers, etc.
This connection method is relatively reliable. The main thing is to choose high-quality eyeliner and to do the installation correctly.
Tips for choosing
In a quality product, under a metal braid, there is a rubber hose made of rubber with EPDM brand (ethylene propylene rubber). Even when choosing, you should pay attention to the material of the braid. It should be made of steel thread (stainless steel), not aluminum. There is a braid made of galvanized steel thread. It is inexpensive and lasts no more than 1 year.
Installation secrets
1. The main thing do not twist the flexible hose, do not break or overtighten when fastening. Any deformation makes the material unusable.
2. Use fum tape or flax is not needed to seal the threads. It only hurts and it leads to damage to the gasket and leakage. Installation takes place without a seal, the nut is tightened and tightened slightly with a wrench.
Repair of flexible lines
Often, the flexible piping begins to leak after some time at the junction with the pipe or mixer. The reason is that the gaskets from the water have become unusable. Another (rare) reason is a crack in the nut. We independently find the reason and repair it.
If it flows from under the rolling of the liner, then it is worth replacing the hose.
Water seeping out from under the nut or from the upper part, then replacing the gasket, coupling, in extreme cases, the hose will help.
Wear of the gasket is often the cause. In the store you can buy silicone and rubber. Plumbers are advised to choose silicone. Much less wear and tear and do not get rough over time.
Replacing an element is not difficult. You need to take a screwdriver and pry off the rubber element. Then take the silicone one and insert it tightly into the groove.
Plumbers even recommend when buying eyeliner, remove rubber gaskets and change to silicone ones.
On the other side of the hose there is a rubber O-ring, which can also cause leakage. Replacing them is also not difficult. Remember that rubber rings come in different sizes. We remove, put on a new ring until it stops.
We replaced the elements in the flexible hose, now you can put the hose back in place.
