How to install emery so that it does not take up extra space: life hacks for the workshop
A sharpening machine, or as it is also called - emery, refers to equipment that is idle 95% of its time in domestic conditions. Usually knives, axes, drills, chisels and other tools with cutting edges are sharpened on it. But at home this does not happen very often. Therefore, it is better to install the emery so that, if necessary, it can be quickly brought into working condition, and the rest of the time it does not take up extra space. How to implement it - read on.
Emery cloth inside the table / workbench
This is one of the most convenient ways to install such equipment. Its meaning is to hide the grinder in a workbench or table. To do this, cut out a cover in the surface of the table / workbench, on the back of which the machine is installed. The lid is hinged to fit the emery inside the table / workbench. The cover can be adjusted to bring the machine onto the table / workbench or out of the work surface. The method is suitable for both wood and metal surfaces.
- The advantage of this arrangement is that when the machine is not needed, it does not take up any free space at all.
- Disadvantage: the low position of the table or workbench is not very convenient for working on such equipment.

Wall emery
Another way to mount the grinder is to place it on the wall. To do this, it is necessary to make corner fasteners, one plane of which is mounted to the wall, and the other holds the emery. They can be made from metal corners by welding, a grinder and a drill. And also as an option, you can adapt the old TV bracket for this case by converting the mount into a platform for installing the machine.
- The advantages of this mounting method are that the machine can be mounted higher. This will make it more convenient to work.
-
Disadvantage: the wall will not allow sharpening and processing of any non-standard volumetric parts.
Using one of these ideas as a basis, you can position the grinder so that it does not take up unnecessary free space. These methods are especially relevant in small workshops.
