Budget material, from which in no case can you make paths in the yard

Without garden paths, the yard looks unkempt. And you can walk on it only in dry weather, as the rain immediately turns the paths into "mud tracks". For a comfortable stay, any adjacent territory needs to be landscaped. But paving paths, playgrounds and parking area - the events are not cheap. Therefore, many use budget materials: someone buys illiquid paving slabs; someone makes paths from old bricks; and someone for these purposes, in general, buys construction waste. And that's okay, because there is nothing wrong with saving. But that's just among budget materialsused as a covering, one extremely dangerous and poisonous. We will briefly talk about him today.

FAM

This material costs "a penny" and is especially popular in the private sector. They make paths from it, they fill in the grounds and entrances to the house, equip parking spaces and even use it for site planning and filling. This material is called FAM (fine-grained asphalt fraction), or, as the people say, asphalt crumb. If you are offered to use this budget option for a yard or a summer cottage, then refuse without hesitation!

Why FAM cannot be used in residential areas

Asphalt crumb is considered a waste, moreover, extremely hazardous to health. The fact is that FAM was once an asphalt surface. In addition to bitumen, which is part of asphalt, this isthe coating contains another half of the periodic table. And it's not a joke! There were once cars on the asphalt that left their tires on it; heavy metals and other extremely harmful substances contained in exhaust gases; as well as stains of oils, antifreezes, antifreezes, fuel and others. And all this was absorbed into the asphalt for years, which was then removed, processed and turned into the very FAM.

And when all this falls on the site, it naturally ends up in the soil and in the air. In hot weather FAM fonite - toxic substances are released from it, which, among other things, are carcinogens. So they enter the respiratory tract and blood, causing chronic diseases. But even without hot weather, these substances successfully get to people. With rainwater, all this chemistry enters the soil, and if there is a vegetable garden or garden nearby, then fruits, vegetables, herbs and berries will be replenished with new, and far from nutritious, elements.

So FAM / FAB or pieces of old asphalt should in no case be used in the yard, in the garden, in the summer cottage. This material may turn out to be economically viable, but in the future you should not expect any good from it. Here you can save on coverage, but then work hard for the pharmacy.
