How to get rid of lichen on a fruit tree: a proven method
They say that lichens do not harm fruit trees. But then where, with the appearance of such a neighbor, does low fruiting, slowing down the growth of a tree, drying out and dying off of branches come from? All this from lichen, which is, in fact, a plate-like plaque formed by fungi and algae! And this plaque also serves as a real oasis for various insect pests. It is necessary to fight this scourge right now, in late October - early November. At this time, the trees are dormant and the lichen removal procedure is tolerated by them without any problems.
Stage one - cleaning
First, you need to completely clear the trunk and branches of the tree from lichen. To do this, you need a coarse plastic brush or, in extreme cases, a metal brush with fine brass bristles. It is necessary to work with this tool delicately, without harming the tree. This plaque is removed quite easily, so you don't need to rub with fanaticism. Remember, during this procedure, you cannot overdo it, so as not to cause more damage to the tree than it already has. Make sure that the integrity of the bark is not violated!
Important! During this procedure, it is necessary to lay a cellophane film under the tree so that the removed plaque does not fall on it. Next, you need to collect the remnants of the lichen from the film and burn it so that it does not infect other plants.

Stage two - processing
After cleaning, you should immediately start processing the wood. To do this, it is necessary to prepare an aqueous solution of ferrous sulfate in proportions of 50 grams of the chemical per 1 liter of water. Next, using a garden sprayer, you need to process the places where the lichen grew.
Iron sulfate is an excellent fungicide that effectively destroys fungi and algae. When working with this drug, be sure to use glasses and gloves, as in direct contact with the skin, it can harm the body!
After these two stages of treatment, the trees will "breathe" with relief, and you can forget about the lichen. The method has been tested by many generations and works great!
