Is it worth keeping a large dog on a chain if it does not bite and loves everyone who comes to the house
Keeping a pet is a big responsibility and a need to give part of your soul to a new family member. To be honest, we've already started thinking about getting a cat. Although the husband talks about a dog, more precisely, about a watchdog, which will serve to guard the site from uninvited guests.
But I don't think it's a good idea to keep the dog chained. How many times have I seen such dogs that live in a kennel, sit on a chain, and the area around it is all polluted with wastes from dog's life, food debris, clumps of wool. And this semicircle, which the dog tramples in the snow, running along a tight chain... In my opinion, this picture is simply terrible, although in the village it is completely ordinary. Every day I pass two such sites with poor chained dogs.
On the other hand, there are other dogs as well. For example, my friends have a dog that sits on a leash most of the time, but they take it to the toilet for a walk, train with it, walk, take it with them into the forest, in the field. This is a common mongrel, but very large and solid. At the same time, she loves everyone who approaches the house, pulls her head to be stroked. To do this, he climbs onto the roof of the kennel and wags his tail.
Those who do not know about such a peaceful nature of the dog are afraid to approach the house, because it looks like a real wolf. And the muzzle is so predatory, stern. But in fact - a loving creature, thirsty for affection.
By the way, such a powerful carcass eats very well, they buy chicken legs and heads for it and cook porridge on them. She will not refuse gingerbread, cookies, and she will gladly grill a fresh cucumber. That is, the expenses for such a watchman, although not overwhelming, are quite substantial.
And now I have a question - is there a need for such a dog on a chain that needs to be fed, walked and watched over, if, as a watchman, she is a complete zero?
And if suddenly, God forbid, something happens to the owner, who will lead her for a walk? As we both got sick with coronavirus in winter and fell ill on the same day, it was a nightmare. With a fever, at least once a day, but I went to feed my chickens. And then I stoked the stove for them, because it was 45-degree frosts. And if there was still a dog? After all, you can't throw grain for her, she needs to cook food.
Therefore, in my opinion, if a dog is on a chain, then it should be a watchman - to love only its owners and those whom they love. But every passerby should wag his tail and substitute his head to be stroked - yes, he is, simply, a parasite!
Maybe someone will find it controversial, but you need to understand that such a life in the village. Chickens are here to have eggs. Rabbits are raised and slaughtered for dietary meat. The pigs that have grown up go under the knife for lard and meat. Calves that look so innocent and cute bring the tender veal for which they were fed by the owners. This is a village, not a petting zoo.
I don’t want to keep the dog on a chain, so we probably won’t start it. What do you think about this?
