SpaceX has performed short-term firing tests of its prototype engines for the Starship SN20 reusable spacecraft
Engineers of the American space company SpaceX performed a short-term activation of the propulsion systems installed on the prototype of the Starship SN20 reusable spacecraft.
For its first ever flight, the spacecraft is being prepared on a launch pad located near the village of Boca Chica (South Texas, USA). So the engines started working for just a couple of moments, and the ship itself was securely fixed in place.
So, according to the representative of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) K. Bergin, during the short-term switching on of the engines, the outbreak was rather weak, which indirectly suggests that the SpaxeX engineers carried out so-called pre-start tests on Raptor engines, which run on a fuel mixture of liquefied gases such as methane and oxygen.
Experts have put forward the assumption that the next stage will be a full-fledged fire test, in the process of which already all Raptor SN20 engines will be fully utilized, but the prototype itself will be securely fixed to the launch pad.
I would like to remind you that SpaceX, headed by the notorious Elon Musk, is actively developing the Starship system, before which the task was set to carry out the delivery of both payloads and astronauts, first to the Moon and Mars, and in the future to other space bodies of our solar systems.
At the same time, this system will be implemented from the Staship ship, as well as the Super Heavy launch vehicle. At the same time, both the rocket itself and the more so the spacecraft will be reusable and if all will go according to the previously planned plan, then in 2023 the active operation of the system will begin Starship.
And for the very near future, the first full-fledged test flight without a crew on board is planned.
