Replacing curtains is a very quick way to transform your interior. A new pattern, a visually pleasing texture, a different color accent and, voila, the familiar environment looks completely different. But sometimes, oh, how difficult it is to do it! Either the choice is scarce, or the price is sky-high. Well, nothing is there and another option!

Which will allow you to save money and save time, without knocking over the doorsteps of numerous textile shops. It will only be necessary to find old curtains in their "bins" and renew them with the help of paint: after finishing the old ornament, turning it into something completely different. Or apply a stylish abstract geometric pattern to plain textiles, making curtains a bright touch to your interior. Or... well, in general, you understand, it all depends on your imagination.
A what you need, and the general principle of applying a pattern to curtains, in our case, the stripes, I will tell you in this material. Stripes will not suit, it does not matter! You can always try to apply any other pattern using a stencil in your work.
1.Materials and tools you need. So, first you need to prepare curtains and chalk paint. And also a tape measure, a pencil, a paintbrush, a bottle of water and a spray nozzle and masking tape. And only after that you can start working!
2.Preparatory stage. First, you need to carefully smooth out the curtains by spreading them out on a surface convenient for you, for example, on a large table or floor. And not anyhow! You need to try to get rid of any gathers, folds and creases, even the smallest.
Since the quality of staining will directly depend on this.
3.Application of marks and tape. The curtain is marked with a pencil and tape measure. Marks with the desired number and width of stripes are applied immediately along the entire length of the web. First from one end, and then from the other. Opposite points must be connected with a dotted line or a thin, barely noticeable line. This will allow you to glue the masking tape to the fabric evenly and neatly.
When gluing the tape, do not forget to smooth the canvas underneath. Pay close attention to the edges of the duct tape. If they do not adhere well and begin to come off, then paint will flow under them, and your textiles will acquire an unplanned design.
4.Preparation for painting and painting of curtains. Spray the strip with water before painting. This will make it easier to apply and absorb the dye into the fabric. Only then can you start painting with a brush. And keep in mind that paint should be applied especially carefully and carefully to the edges.
Work strictly one at a time. We painted over the first strip, only then moisten the second and start working with it. If you wish, you can dye the fabric in two layers, but the third will be superfluous.
5.The final stage. After staining all the strips, the masking tape must be removed. But there is a nuance! It is advisable to wait until the paint becomes sticky to the touch, and only then can it be removed.
When working with the second canvas, use the same width of the stripes and the spacing between them. Both curtains should be exactly the same.
If you have never dyeing, let alone fabrics, and are afraid to work with curtains right away, then I advise you to first practice on a piece of old textiles or unnecessary clothes. This will allow you to gain the necessary experience and avoid annoying mistakes.
