6 reasons the bottom of the battery is cold and the top is hot
Winter is coming soon. We have already turned on the heating in high-rise buildings. It is still warm, but winter promises to be cold.
Will the batteries do their job? Especially when the bottom of the battery is cold and the top is very hot.
If the temperature difference is large, then there are serious problems. The efficiency depends primarily on the uniform heating of the surface of the heater.
Why does the heating function with such a temperature difference (it's hot from above and cold from below)? Let's look at the main reasons.
This problem arises not only in cast iron batteries, but also in new radiators.
1. Not enough pressure. It is not enough to push the water. The circulation is disturbed and the bottom of the radiator becomes cold. In cast iron batteries, this problem is not observed. They have wide passages and require less system pressure.
In modern radiators, everything is different. This is especially noticeable if the neighbors have installed a warm floor or a tap on the bypass. There may be problems in the central heating line.
2. Clogging. This is the most common cause. A poor-quality coolant will lead to such problems: the formation of salt deposits, the occurrence of scale, corrosion. It is necessary to choose a coolant correctly, taking into account: the level of viscosity, heat capacity, environmental friendliness, predisposition to foaming, corrosive activity. To eliminate the problem, use mechanical or chemical cleaning of radiators.
3. Accumulates air in radiators Is also a common reason. This is especially noticeable on the upper floors of an apartment building. Therefore, one cannot do without a Mayevsky crane.
Air is released through such a crane. But before that, the pipe is blocked, falling hot water into the radiator (the return line is open). The tap opens and air is released.
4. Locking fittings (breaking). These can be valves, thermal heads and a ball valve.
A breakdown occurs inside the tap and the free circulation of the liquid stops.
5. Small speed movement coolant. For this reason, circulation pumps are installed in private homes to ensure proper heating.
6. Yet cause – radiator mounted in cold room (loggias, veranda) with insufficient thermal insulation. The air around is cold, so the liquid will cool quickly and unevenly.
