Scientists have created a new type of wood that is stronger than ceramics and steel
A scientific group from the United States demonstrated its new development - a completely new method of wood processing, after which the processed material acquires unusual properties.
This makes wood stronger than materials such as steel and ceramics. Today I want to tell you about this unusual study.
New method of wood processing and its new properties
In order to impart such unique properties to wood, scientists performed the separation of lignin from wood, and as a result, a special substance was obtained.
After a knife was made from the obtained substance, while coating with mineral oil, after by hardening and sharpening, the product turned out to be significantly sharper than a conventional steel knife by at least three times.
So, in the opinion of the authors of the scientific work, the material they created may well find application in various fields. So from such a special wood it is quite possible to produce nails, various cutting tools, etc.
At the same time, as scientists especially emphasize, their version of wood processing makes it possible to obtain not only a particularly durable material, but also at the same time the most environmentally friendly.
And in the light of the ever-increasing struggle for the environment, products made of ordinary wood, while being in no way inferior in strength to steel, look quite promising.
Everything will ultimately depend on the cost of such products and the final price. After all, if they (special wooden products) cost about the same as high-quality knives, well, or not much more, then quite a few people will buy such gadgets for themselves.
Well, we will observe the development of technology and how a particularly durable wood product will be used.
Write in the comments if you would buy such knives made of wood for yourself and if you see a prospect for such a technology in the future.
Well, if you liked the material, then rate it and do not forget to subscribe to the channel. Thank you for your attention!
