Now it has become fashionable to pull an electrician underground, or is it just being imposed on us? I did it by air, I don't see any drawbacks.

Some things you never think about until it comes down to it. I never wondered how anyone had a power supply to the house until their own plot appeared ...

Although even then, I did like the absolute majority of my neighbors, and threw the cable through the air.

Now it has become fashionable to pull an electrician underground, or is it just being imposed on us? I did it by air, I don't see any drawbacks.

Although the "worldwide network", more often than not, offers a different option.

As a true modern self-builder, without experience, I take most of the information for my construction site from the Internet 😎. And how many times I watched people make foundations, overwhelmingly, the projects included ducts for electricians to enter the house.

So it's not clear: laying electricity underground is really some kind of innovative solution, which was not previously suspected, or another way to withdraw money from the customer for work?

  • Protection against ultraviolet radiation, temperature extremes, and other weather conditions.
  • There is no likelihood of mechanical damage.
  • Aesthetics.

These are the advantages offered by laying the cable underground. But for me it is somehow doubtful and too tense.

From this list, the real plus is only aesthetics (especially when you need to stretch long distances with a cable). But protection from weather conditions, and some kind of mechanical damage can be provided for the external laying of electricians.

Do you think I am in favor of laying the cable through the air?

Probably 90% yes, and I'm starting from reality.

βœ” Easy, simple and cheap.

In my case, I paid only for the electrician to climb the pole and connect the self-supporting insulated wire to the line, and it was relatively cheap. All other work on the electrical wiring around the site can be done on your own. Well, if you don't want to, then in any case it will be much cheaper than burying everything in the ground.

βœ” The size of the lot matters.

And if it's a small area (I have, for example, 8 acres), then here all the distances between buildings are small, and all overhead lines will not be conspicuous. And if you wish, all this can be beautifully hidden altogether.

βœ” Changes and redevelopment.

This is something that no one will ever predict. Where and when you want to dig the next pit or trench, no one can predict. And buried cables severely limit all this.

  • And air lines can always be altered and relocated.
  • Everything is maintainable and accessible.

Although, any site is an individuality.

Of course, there can be too many factors influencing the choice of how to route the cable: through the air, or underground. I am only for the fact that everything needs to be approached wisely and practically, and not to follow some imposed things.

Friends, what do you think on this issue? Perhaps there are other nuances that I did not mention. Share your thoughts and experiences.
