You can simply order a cheap garden drill, or rent a motor drill - this will save you a lot of time, a lot of concrete, a lot of money, and the fence will stand stronger. If you dig a hole with a shovel, it will take two or three times more concrete - and even overpaying for concrete, you will not be able to achieve a powerful and reliable structure.
When the holes are drilled, the poles must be installed directly in them and poured with concrete. Sometimes it is possible to make a hole in the posts with a grinder about three by three centimeters, so that a little concrete goes into the interior of the post, protecting it from corrosion and strengthening the structure.
This is the easiest and most correct way to install a pole. Never install poles in concrete or plastic pipes. These are unnecessary body movements, loads and time expenditures. Unnecessary costs for the purchase of a pipe, and most importantly, that the concrete in such a pipe will be, as if in a sleeve. If there is a strong wind, then the pole will simply swing and it will chatter strongly without rigid adhesion of concrete to the soil.
And only on well-installed pillars, any structure and material of the fence will look good, hold securely and will not break out in a strong wind.
If you want to put up a reliable fence yourself, be sure to dig in the pillars into the drilled holes and fill concrete directly between the soil and the post - this is the only way the fence can stand for several decades without problems.
