How to make a blind area around the house?
In this article I will tell you how to make a blind area of concrete, what materials are needed for this, how the process goes, and what layers of the cake should be required.
In general, the work can be divided into the following stages:
- Preparation of the base for the blind area;
- Markup;
- Installation of a sand cushion;
- Waterproofing of the blind area;
- Warming;
- Formwork installation;
- Reinforcement and concreting.
Let's try to disassemble each stage in a little more detail.
To prepare the base, you need to remove a layer of earth 30 centimeters thick, remove all roots, stones and foreign objects. It is possible to spill the earth with powerful chemical herbicides so that young plants do not destroy our formwork. Then you need to prepare a trench, and knead a layer of clay on the bottom.
Next, you need to make a markup - at the corners of the blind area you need to drive in pegs, between which you need to pull the rope. So that it does not sag, the pegs can be placed at a distance of 1-2 meters from each other.
Then a sand-crushed stone pillow is made. It is necessary to use crushed stone of different fractions so that there are as few voids as possible, and the pillow is as dense as possible. This layer is leveled and rammed, after which it is poured with water for compaction. Then the layer is lined with river sand and rammed again. The size of the pillow can be from 10 to 20 centimeters.
Next is waterproofing. Between the gravel and sand, you need to lay two layers of ordinary film. When this is done, the formwork must be made.
It is made of edged boards and beams, which are knitted into shields by a pair of boards and are connected by jumpers half a meter apart. The larger the concrete layer, the higher the formwork should be. This structure will enclose the place where the concrete is poured, so it must be strengthened with pegs. At this stage, it is necessary to lay the slats for the transverse seams every one and a half to two meters, so that there are no deformations of the concrete from changes in temperature.
Well, concreting. Poor concrete quality is the main cause of cracks on the surface of the blind area. The requirements for concrete here must be quite high - the concrete class must be B25 or more. When installing concrete, it is necessary to ensure that the mixture tightly fills the entire space and that there are no surface defects where water or air will collect. If precipitation begins immediately after pouring for several days, the blind area should be covered with plastic wrap, but do not forget to moisten the concrete to strengthen it in the next two weeks.
