China plans to build 150 new nuclear reactors over the next 15 years
The outbreak of the global energy crisis prompted the Chinese authorities to significantly speed up decision-making on the development of nuclear energy in the country. So, according to the new adopted doctrine, it is planned to build 150 new nuclear reactors in the Celestial Empire in 15 years. In fact, China will double the number of reactors built worldwide since the 1980s.
A new boom in nuclear power and a likely shortage of uranium
So if such ambitious plans of the representatives of the Celestial Empire for the construction of such a large number of reactors are realized, then uranium consumption will at least double. Naturally, in addition to China, nuclear energy will be developed by other countries, which will provoke a rapid growth in the consumption and production of uranium around the world.
This has already led to the fact that uranium mining companies began to create a reserve of finished products, so to speak, until "better times". And speculators on the exchange markets have already begun to buy up shares of companies producing nuclear fuel.
You do not need to have an economic education in order to understand that such a rapid development of nuclear energy in the Middle Kingdom will lead to the fact that all countries, wishing to keep up with from China, they will also intensively develop their own nuclear power plants, since at the moment "green energy" with its solar panels and wind turbines is clearly slips.
Of course, thermonuclear reactors can become an alternative for nuclear power. But just whether scientists will be able to create a commercially effective thermonuclear reactor is a big question. After all, so far all attempts have been limited to short-term laboratory experiments.
Against this background, the reactors created by the efforts of Rosatom's engineers, operating on spent fuel, may become quite promising and in demand all over the world.
Well, we will monitor the development of the situation both in China and around the world. Well, if you liked the material, then rate it and do not forget to subscribe to the channel. Thank you for your attention!
