Why Bill Gates is funding a project to create an artificial sun curtain
Today literally everyone knows what global warming is and what it can eventually lead to. Climate change is happening everywhere, and various natural disasters are happening more and more often. So recently it rained in central Greenland - for the first time in the entire history of observing this region.
Climatologists around the planet are sounding the alarm and claim that extreme weather will be more frequent. Literally around the world, an increase in the number of droughts, extreme high temperatures, and floods has been recorded.
Scientists are also very concerned that the level of the world's oceans may rise dramatically, which will also have a negative impact on the global weather. And in order to somehow improve the situation, you need to take drastic measures.
Bill Gates and his initiatives
There are many rich and even super-rich people in the world, and one of them is the world famous Bill Gates. Unlike many of his “colleagues”, he decided not to fly into space, but to invest in the Earth.
His foundation has already successfully solved several important problems in Africa, and has also proposed a number of technologies to improve the environmental situation in the world.
Now the billionaire has decided to implement an extremely ambitious project aimed at ridding the Earth of global warming. The billionaire wanted to block the light from the sun.
The project to darken the sun and its possible consequences
Bill Gates acted as the main sponsor of the ScoPEx project (the name stands for experiment on controlled disturbance of the stratosphere). Scientists from Harvard University in the field of solar geoengineering are working on the project.
The essence of the project is to spray a certain amount of particles of calcium carbonate and, thus, partially reflect the sun's rays, thereby reducing heating atmosphere.
For the first test, the northern region of Sweden was chosen, over which it was planned to spray from 100 grams to 2 kilograms of this substance at an altitude of 20 km.
The essence of the experiment is to study the potential risks of geoengineering, as well as to find out how particles will interact with each other, as well as solar and infrared radiation.
Indeed, according to theoretical calculations, the use of this technology on a global scale is quite capable sufficiently effectively to soften solar radiation and, thus, greatly slow down the process of global warming.
More daring engineers suggest that solar geoengineering can even completely stop the global warming and seriously reduce the heating of the planet, especially if the substance is sprayed at the so-called strategic points atmosphere.
The ScoPEx experiment was supposed to take place back in June 2021, immediately after receiving approval from the independent review board of Harvard, as well as the Swedish authorities.
But in February, public organizations drew up an open letter with an appeal to at least postpone the experiment. After several weeks of meetings, it was decided to postpone the experiment for a year.
The technology is certainly interesting, but the long-term consequences for world weather are difficult to calculate. We will watch its implementation with concern and special interest.
