House of cinder blocks: pros and cons (why there are still houses built by the Germans in the USSR)

For masonry, use the building material M-100, 136. For partitions - M50, 75. A small bearing capacity does not allow the use of a cinder block for the construction of a multi-storey building.

pros

1. The cinder block is larger than a brick in size. Therefore, construction takes place faster. Plus low solution consumption.

2. Fire safety Is one of the main priorities. If, during laying, the walls are reinforced with rods, then the house is not afraid of any hurricane or earthquake.

3. Cinder block house maintainable. The masonry process is simple and quick compared to brick. You can make the desired wall thickness in one, one and a half or two blocks.

4. Cinder block is a material with high service life - 100 years.

In our city there are still houses made of cinder blocks, which were built by the Germans in the Soviet years.

The fact is that the Germans are pedantic and thorough people.

The cost of cinder blocks is low (especially if you use a hollow block). A corpulent material has a good sound absorption rate.

5. No reinforced required foundation. The cinder block does not make the structure of the building heavier. A house built from such blocks is solid and reliable. Blocks do not collapse under the influence of ultraviolet radiation, mold, and is not afraid of rodents.

6. The biggest plus is budgetary. However, some claim that although the blocks are inexpensive, they will have to go all out for insulation and cladding. You can insulate with polystyrene and apply plaster on top.

Minuses

1. Hygroscopicity. Therefore, it is important to make the finishing, ebb tides on the roof, waterproofing between the foundation and the walls.

2. High thermal conductivity. It gives off heat quickly and heats up quickly in the heat. The stone is denser and therefore difficult to work with.

3. Bad adhesion (coupling). The material is hygroscopic and porous. It is better to cover with a deep penetration primer (acrylic) before plastering. Wait 2-5 hours and then apply a cement-sand plaster with the addition of lime.

4. Weighs block about 15-20 kg. When buying, check the cinder blocks for the background, it can "fade" (emit harmful substances).
