High-quality do-it-yourself solder paste (saving budget + accelerating soldering)
Solder paste is needed for manual soldering of wires, metals. The substance is used to connect fittings, pipes made of an alloy of brass and copper. Soldering takes place without a soldering iron.
For example, Mechanic paste (XG-50) can be used to solder wires even with a lighter. When heated, it turns into solder and solidifies.
A mixture of pasty consistency. Includes solder, binders and flux.
The paste is easy to work with. It does not spread at the place of application, does not splash when heated, does not exfoliate, does not oxidize. Pastes are sold in a syringe, cans, cartridges.
Purchased pasta is expensive. It is easier and cheaper to make it yourself.
Let's prepare the following:
- The base will be tin-lead solder. Solder with flux (not acid based) is suitable.
- File or dremel with disc cutter (D40 mm).
- Solder flux.
Step by step cooking
1. Take a file and a bar and start grinding it down into the smallest crumb. Pour sawdust into a prepared jar.
If you sharpen with a cutter, then put a plastic cup with a hole in the bottom on the drill. This method is much faster.
2. Pour powder into a mortar and add coarse salt. Grind everything with a pestle. Add salt a little at a time. Pour the finished mixture with water and rinse several times. Do not pour out the sediment; it must be dried on a battery and crushed.
3. Then you need to cook jelly. First, the starch is poured with cold water, stirred, and then poured hot, until a liquid jelly is obtained.
4. Dissolve a little powder in water and pour into jelly. Stir. Air bubbles will float up along with fine solder particles. Large particles will settle to the bottom. Pour into another container without draining the sediment. We separate large and small particles into different containers.
5. The resulting powder is fine and coarse. For pasta, fine is good. We mix the flux with a wooden stick with fine powder. The proportions are 40:60.
6. We collect the resulting composition into a regular syringe. The needle can be supplied with a flux. Everything is ready, you can use it.
Perhaps the whole process will seem long, but this is just an opportunity to make a paste for soldering yourself.
