How to make eucharis ("Amazonian lily") finally bloom
Do you want your "Amazon Lily" to finally show its wonderful, fragrant flowers? Then a fiery salute, tired of waiting for a flower arrow from eucharis, like manna from heaven. Today on the agenda is an action plan, which with a 90% probability will force the stubborn to finally give buds.
Start by evaluating the pot
Imagine: you brought into the house and planted an Amazon lily bulb. Okay, two or three. And you expect them to bloom. Eh, no. It doesn't work that way! Until the eucharis grows new baby bulbs, do not wait for the flower arrow. The more units there are in the pot, the closer they are, the higher the likelihood of that very flowering.
This is explained in an outrageously simple way. The plant is more accustomed and easier to reproduce vegetatively than to bloom. It will deign to give a flower arrow when it considers that there is not enough space in the pot.
So plant the bulbs in small but high capacity. If your eucharis is already sitting in a pot with a lot of free space, there are 2 ways left:
- Wait for the weather by the sea - when new bulbs grow in sufficient quantity.
- Transplant the eucharis into a suitable pot. It does not tolerate transplanting well and takes a long time to recover: sometimes the leaves have to be grown again.
But practice shows that the second way is often faster than the first. Even with the stress and recovery from the transplant. So, comrade: do not delay if you decide.
About nutrition for eucharis: soil and feeding
I will say a separate word about the soil. It is generally accepted that organic matter should not be given to bulbous and tuberous plants, because it provokes putrefactive processes. This is the absolute truth. But not for such voracious plants as our eucharis or, say, hippeastrum.
You can give them without hesitation nutrient soil. How do you like leafy land? Vermicompost, well rotted compost in the end? Eucharis will appreciate it!
But don't forget about mineral dressing. Alternate fertilizers "For decorative deciduous" with "For blooming". The first ones will help new leaves grow, without a sufficient amount of which the normal development of any plant is impossible. The second ones contain potassium, which is so important for the growth of the nest of bulbs.
The home stretch to bloom
When eucharis has grown a family of children, flowering can be required from him.
And now you need stop watering eucharis. At all.
- If possible, put in a cool and not too lit place.
- The ideal condition for the start of stimulating work will be the relocation of the Amazonian lily to the Russian balcony or loggia. The temperature difference "Day / Night" for most indoor plants is a signal for the beginning of flowering.
But, as practice shows, just the absence of watering for a month or two often brings the desired effect.. The dry period should not last longer than 1.5-2 months, otherwise there is a risk of losing the flower. Usually, by this period, the Amazonian lily still ripens to release the long-awaited arrow.
Just remember: first - a lot of bulbs in the pot and top dressing, then - a dormant period for flowering!
