Tests of the newest Russian anti-submarine complex "Answer" in the Sea of Japan completed successfully
That a rocket was launched from the frigate of the Pacific Fleet "Marshal Shaposhnikov" located in the waters of the Sea of Japan innovative anti-submarine complex "Answer", which successfully hit the target, it became known from the official message of the Ministry of Defense RF.
As it was said in the message, the missile warhead coped with the task of hitting an underwater target. According to the specialists of the RF Ministry of Defense, “Answer” is primarily intended to disable the enemy's underwater vehicles.
At the same time, it is especially emphasized that the launch complex is universal and allows launching, in addition to the Answer missiles, launches of Onyx and Caliber cruise missiles.
What is the "Answer" complex
The fact that the anti-submarine missile system "Answer" successfully passed the entire complex of state tests, it became known in November 2020, and the complex should be put into service in the near time.
According to materials available from open sources, the "Answer" missile has a range of 40 km. So the launch vehicle delivers the warhead to the alleged location of the submarine, then the warhead (torpedo) separates from the main rocket, descends by parachute, and already in the water, the torpedo searches and strikes in autonomous mode purpose. In this case, the maximum range of the underwater part is 10 kilometers.
