In Russia, developed and are preparing for production of lithium batteries capable of operating at -50 ° C

Representatives of the Ruselectronics holding, which is part of the state corporation Rostec, said that Russian engineers managed to create lithium-ion rechargeable batteries capable of reliably operating in the temperature range from -50 to +50 degrees Celsius Celsius.

At the same time, the first batch of such batteries has already passed a set of preliminary tests, and the serial production of such batteries is scheduled for early 2022.

New domestic batteries and their prospects

These rechargeable lithium-ion batteries were created by engineers working at NPO Impulse (part of Ruselectronics) during implementation of a strategic project for the direct development and improvement of the domestic electronic base, as well as within the so-called import substitution.

So, in the course of laboratory experiments, Russian scientists managed to select a unique electrochemical a recipe that guarantees the preservation of the battery's performance even at extremely low temperatures.

The created chemical current source weighing 150 grams was able to withstand over 2700 charge / discharge cycles without significant loss of the initial capacity.

At the same time, on the basis of such a low-temperature battery, it is quite possible to produce batteries designed for different voltages and capacities.

Where domestic frost-resistant batteries will be used

As mentioned above, engineers have developed frost-resistant batteries (which is very important in Russian realities) primarily as a replacement for foreign samples. Therefore, engineers made Russian batteries completely unified with Western models.

And this means that now such domestic batteries can be seen in telecommunication equipment, in various robots, in medical devices, military installations, unmanned aerial vehicles, etc. P.

Here, import substitution "got" to lithium-ion batteries, and our engineers did not just localize everything production on the territory of Russia, but also carried out modernization in accordance with climatic characteristics our country.
