The first Russian space company Success Rockets performed its first launch of an updated rocket
Private companies from the Russian Federation are also participating in the so-called "race for space", and on December 23, the Russian Success Rockets successfully completed the launch of the NEBO 25 suborbital launch vehicle, which carried femto satellites. It is about this flight and its results that will be discussed in this material.
The first flight of the NEBO 25 and its results
The launch of the suborbital launch vehicle NEBO 25 took place on December 23 from the territory of the Astrakhan region. For Success Rockets, this is the second launch in a year, but during the first launch, the company's engineers tested a prototype of the UR-1 meteorological rocket.
The launch of NEBO 25 is the next and very important step in the development of the company and it is extremely important that the flight took place at all. Because of the strong wind, the engineers had to adjust both the angle and the trajectory of the flight.
As a result, the rocket, according to the new scheme, successfully flew a distance of 18 kilometers, while the propulsion system worked for 8.2 seconds. Compared to previous launches, Success Rockets engineers have managed to increase the flight range by almost ten times.
In addition, during the flight, numerous sensors transmitted data that would make it possible to thoroughly analyze all parameters. missiles in flight, and will also tell you what corrective changes need to be made when performing the next flight assignments.
For reference. NEBO 25 is a solid propellant carrier with only one stage and a mass of 65 kilograms and a length of 3.5 meters. Work on this launch vehicle began in 2020, and the first test flight took place with the active support of the Akturus Center (Russian Ministry of Education and Science).
After the completion of the test launch, representatives of the company announced that in the New Year it is planned to carry out the next launch of a suborbital rocket, but already at an altitude of at least 100 kilometers. And if everything goes according to plan, then in 2024 the company will implement the first full-fledged orbital launch.
