Rocket "Angara-A5" successfully launched from the cosmodrome in Plesetsk
The third successful launch of the Angara-A5 rocket took place from the cosmodrome in Plesetsk. The launch took place at 22:00 Moscow time on December 27. This event was reported by official representatives of the Aerospace Forces (Military Space Forces).
Angara-A5 finally took off
So the promising Angara-A5 rocket, which belongs to the heavy class with the Perseus upper stage and has so far been successfully launched into geostationary orbit with just a mock payload.
At the same time, according to the department, the first, second and third stages separated from the rocket at a strictly estimated time. At the same time, the separation of the third stage from the orbital block, which included the upper stage and the payload model, took place 12 minutes after the starting ignition.
Perseus will launch the unit directly into geostationary orbit according to the so-called nine-hour three-pulse scheme (with the cruise engines turned on four times).
I would like to note that this is the third flight of a rocket of this class, and it was fraught with some difficulties. The thing is that the third flight was supposed to take place on December 25th. But literally 90 seconds before the start, the automation of the ground complex canceled the launch. Almost immediately, a special commission was created to analyze this incident.
What exactly caused the cancellation of the previous start is unknown, but judging by the fact that the restart was produced quickly enough and passed normally, the problem was not serious and prompt eliminated.
For reference. Angara is a whole family of so-called environmentally friendly missiles. The family includes Angara-1.2 - a light rocket, Angara-A5 - a heavy rocket, Angara-A5M - a modernized heavy rocket, Angara-A5V - a heavy rocket with increased payload.
